Sorry for the tangent but does anyone know how to set those links to actually show the image? B&C doesn't make it as easy as Dakka Dakka.

Posting from a B&C gallery?

Fairly straight forward just have to make sure you're using the desktop skin :tu:

Any thoughts on the Hellstrike and Hell Furies being related?

I don't think they were given those names at birth. They seem to have earned them via a mutual affinity for "hot" weapons. So they're probably "related" about as much as Robert "Rocky" Balboa and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

I like the Gladiator Valiant. Primaris don’t really need anti-infantry and the Valiant looks to be solid anti-tank. Twin-Lastalon should be about 80 pts, and the 2x Multi-Meltas plus the base Impulsor would place it at about 230 pts. For a rapid moving unit that isn’t terrible. I am assuming that the sponsons are fixed, we’ll find out more in the coming weeks I’m sure.

I agree that they don't really need more anti infantry firepower, however the idea of 24 strength 5 shots plus however many Tempest Bolter shots in one fast moving package is still very very tempting.

On topic, I can't wait for the Storm Speeder's official reveal. Is everyone still of the opinion that there's a chap sticking his head out a cupola at the top and that the missiles are basically aimed at this head?

Slightly off- topic, but in all these eagle-eyed shenanigans, has anyone spotted anything that might be another transport option for Primaris?

Nope, and if it existed and were planned for release this year (as all the new units in the photo are) it would have been listed along with the other datasheets in the Table of Contents for the new codex.

There are no new units in the dedicated transport section, so we won't be getting another transport until next year at the earliest.

What other room for a transport do we have? They can’t really take away from the impulsor to add more space for troops. They could take away the repulsors weapons to add room for troops.... make it carry 15 like a crusader.

Possibly an even faster transport similar to a land speeder that only carries Phobos? Seems unlikely.

Or a drop pod.

Yeah, a drop pod seems to be the only way to add another unique transport unit.

That or adding it by way of letting Primaris ride in Land Raiders and Storm Ravens.

Oh, or a new flyer all together. Doubt they’ll open up older vehicles as it wouldn’t sell new kits, even if a few people would buy the old kits. I feel like the drop pod would be the last thing to come. Because.... how do you make it different from the old drop pod? Slightly bigger? Seems like a lazy answer. And you know they have to make a new model for it.

I wonder if the Storm Speeder will bring Whirlwind capability or does the Hammerfall ‘replace’ the Whirlwind? Maybe it could do the Hunter/Stalker role? Or is that no longer needed due to the various Icarus weapons Primaris have?

I’d personally like to see a Impulsor with only the sponsons and the pickup bed covered and a capacity of 10.

Then for 9th Ed Apocalypse if we could have an Overlord that looks something like the Corvus Blackstar but bigger, then I’ll be truly happy :)

Why sell new kits when you could sell old kits to a whole ton of new collectors?

I think of the Whirlwind as being a unique unit because it is artillery so has the ability to ignore line of sight. We've seen the Hammerfall weapon profiles already, so unless it is a bespoke unit rule, I'm not expecting it will be much of a replacement.

Though that brings up a good point - will this new Speeder have the exact same missile rack as the Hammerfall? Seems similar to me.

My hope was for another 10-man transport that wasn't as heavily armed as the Repulsor.  Primaris seem to be missing the Rhino equivalent... They have the Land Raider (Repulsor) and Razorback (Impulsor), but a sub-300 point 10-man would be nice :-p

The funny thing about this is that the codex describes the Executioner as heavily inspired by the Razorback.

They describe the Impulsor as being employed in similar capacity to Rhino APCs.

I'm not really expecting they'll ever do a full 10 man transport with no armaments. Hell, the Impulsor itself is just a 6 man capacity with two storm bolters. It is already barebones - the upgrades you can add to it have no impact on the transport capacity.

I think it could happen. Someone made up a custom top-plate for the Repulsor that got rid of the turret and just had two hatches up front. It looked pretty believable as a design variant that GW might actually have in mind.

By the way, I haven't seen it mentioned here - are most people even aware that the Hellstrike missiles already exist in the Space Marine Armory?

Both variants of the Thunderhawk, as well as the Stormbird, have Hellstrike batteries. Meanwhile the Storm Eagle and Fire Raptor both have Twin Hellstrike Launchers.

It just seems from some of the previous comments like some people are thinking "Hellstrike" is a completely new term to Astartes forces. In fact, it would appear that GW is just continuing the naming convention from the Land Speeders of naming the variants after the main weapon they are armed with (Land Speeder Typhoon and Land Speeder Tempest, for example).

...which MIGHT make it easier for anyone trying to decrypt the names of the other two Storm Speeder variants, if their primary weapon also happens to be an existing bit of armament.
