Jolemai
Welcome to part five of the Blood Angels Unit of the Week Series! Following the release of the 8th edition Codex, there is no better time to discuss all the units we have access to. Each week a different unit will appear, with the idea being that we discuss how best to use that model on the battlefield. Where part one will focus on the unique BA units and part two will focus on BA units that are new to this edition of the Codex, part three will discuss how to get the best use the generic units from the past that are still with us (and that many of us have in our armies still), and part four will discuss the Legends units that we still own and love. Finally, part five will be dedicated to the reinforcements from Forge World. Note, this isn't to lament any nerfs, etc, from previous editions; the rules are as they are so try to unlock its potential for those who wish to use them all the same. Similarly, this thread is only for using the option being discussed; it matters not if you feel something is a better choice as such comments aren't constructive to the topic and shall be removed. Without further ado, here's this week's entry: Relic Sicaran Battle Tank Sicaran Battle Tank, Auberon What are you thoughts here folks? How best would you use a standard Sicaran? To compliment a list, or to build a list around? Will the beta rules affect your list(s)? Will you be running multiple units? What weapons choices are you taking and does the above affect how you run them? Are you taking the optional ones? Are you buffing this unit? If so, how? Stratagems of note? Over to you. Please note that the Relic Sicaran Arcus Strike Tank, Relic Sicaran Omega Tank Destroyer, Relic Sicaran Punisher Assault Tank, and Relic Sicaran Venator will be discussed elsewhere. keeblerartillery
I want to love them. I really do. But they’re so expensive points wise, don’t have an invuln and just aren’t Killy enough for those points
Jolemai
This series is about unlocking the potential of units or at the very least, telling neophytes how to use them in games. Depending on sponson choice, it's either 195/225/235 before optional upgrades. It's essentially a faster Predator with three more wounds, an extra heavy bolter, and a larger footprint. So, how do you use it?
Spagunk
People are going to want it dead. Use that to your advantage. Try to kite the enemy out of position if possible. A untouched Sicaran will stomp on pretty much everything since it's a more powerful AutoLas pred. It's costly so you're going to want to distract them through another pressure point. If they pay too much attention to it, that means your SangGuard/Death Company or Cpt. Smashy aren't feeling that pressure. I feel that it's never going to make back its points so don't expect it to handle the entire board. Instead, use it as that distraction carnifax. Jolemai
On reflection, that's probably how I've been playing it since, well, forever: it does draw an awful lot of firepower. I actually benched it from my 2k tank list last game and in hindsight, it was noticeable as my command tanks were focused...
