The SIA strat is close to useless honestly, for 2 cp AND it applies a penalty to the units weapons just to get to fire SIA.  Thats just really bad for most units.  Aside from shooting pistols of the Assault intercessors, reivers, or the hvy stalker rifles of the intercessors or heavy intercessors it doesn't get a lot of use.  For 2 cp though even for those it might not be the great, but at least there is an argument for it on them I suppose.  But hey not every strat can be a winner I guess, just unfortunate they took away something then added a worse version of it for cp lol.

The strat to change your reroll target requiring having a watchmaster on the table, AND it still being 2 cp on top of being a 1 use per battle is very bizzarre to me.  They made it worse, and made it once per game.  I don't feel like the ability is powerful enough, that altering it should require such an investment and a 1 of model to be not just in the army but on the table.  Way to many hoops for a meh ability.

Those 2 strats aside though I like the majority of the strategems, and find most of them useful.  A few ones are a little unfortunate in the sense of they took away abilities of models, or from adding models to kill teams to just require you to have those models AND use a cp, not a huge fan of that, but at least you can still utilize their abilities, and they do still provide a reason to include certain models in kill teams or in your army.  So these are a net ok to good.  Almost all of the stratagems are usable though, with some that are just absolutely fantastic.

Some absolute standouts to me are the 1 cp priority doctrine, can just keep a redemptor/vehicle of your choice in devastator the entire game if you want etc.  The Teleportarium strat is back and works on dreads so yay!  The Brotherhood of veterans to pick a chapter tactic of another chapter for a round is also freaking amazing.  In combat? hey blood angels, shooting stationary?  DA.  Lots of boltgun shots?  IF/CF.  Need to get up the table and charge?  WS to advance+charge.  Want a 6+++? IH  Fallback and shoot?  UM.  This strat has amazing potential.

Shroud Field OMG thank god this is SO good for the corvus, and massively improves its viability.

Just so many cool things we can do now really really fun stuff.

Let’s be honest though. For xenos hunters you are going to pick troops as one, and either elites or HQs. If you swap it. We have the warlord trait to apply the effect to one unit and I think that covered most of the units we will be targeting.

As far as selecting Specialisms and Xenos Hunters go, Troops, Elites, Heavy Support, and HQ all have value, and to me it settles in that order. More often than not, you'll find equipping a unit to handle elite infantry will mean it is likely equally as effective against your opponent's obsec Troops, so for the cost of a specialism and judicious use of your Xenos Hunter rule, you'll be giving that unit access to a Lt. aura against a majority of its preferred targets for far cheaper than a Lt. That will be situationally very powerful, and it seems like clever play will ensure that the situations are usually in our favour.

I am really liking the way they shifted the design space for this faction away from Marines with fancy ammo to Marines with lots of tactical choices.

While I hate that for SIA only Artemis gets it as part of his cost for captains have to use the stratagem, it does make pistols heavy 1 which means any model can fire SIA stratagem pistols with any other weapon they are carrying.

Omg I didn't even consider that. That is so clearly not intended

So storm bolters have remainined a downgrade you pay points for on veteran squads?

I can see why primaris as a whole dont get the special ammo baseline but missing out the storm bolter from SIA just makes things like terminators feel less elite than their troop equivalent.

Guess GW were sore about people buying 3rd party kits.

Do we know how the Kill Team Specialism is applied? Is it a one per army / detachment or can you give it to every Kill team for the appropriate Points cost?

Its 1 each in the army, with the exception of getting the Master specialisms in Crusade games. Just pick a Kill Team and pay the extra power/points.

Also, if you intend to run Kill Teams Cassius, they come with the Aquila Specialism as mandatory, but it does not cost any additional points and it does not prevent you from upgrading another team with that Specialism. Edited by Lemondish
