Hello, my fellow Sons of Titans!

Today I took a leap into the digital seas of Warhammer video creation. My first video is just a simple breakdown of my thought process when I sit down to make a Grey Knights lists. My channel is going to focus on hobbying and filmed battle reports. I would love if my battle-brothers on B&C would check me out!

Thanks!

Been a long time coming waiting for a video on making GK lists. and yes, terminators are the only troops in GK's . Love the Chaplain by the way!

strike squads are super underrated and super valuable. imho in "my meta" they work great, and my gaming group is about hard nosed winning, none of this "have fun and roll dice" soft crap.

On topic though, great first video! Keep up the good work! You should probably disclose the context in which you create your lists and for what reason.

Some of your points I agree with, like the brotherhood champion is just downright awful, in everyway. I understand your fluff reason for not taking named characters, but Voldus' stock rose significantly with Draigo's nerf to his invul save. hes only 22pts more then a regular GM termie, and knows 4 psychic powers and can cast 3.

the original psychic powers are great btw, vortex buffed is super strong, gate of infinity, sanctuary and hammerhand are all great.

Librarians are also fantastic, cheaper then a GM and can cast 2 powers, and know 2. with the sanctic shard relic they are so good.

With 9th edition, i think gone are the days of having a deathstar, you simply get kited, and arent able to score enough objective pts. MSU/mobility and target saturation is key i think, especially with grey knights, everything needs to be doing work, and everything needs to be scary.

on another note, your army is fantastically painted, the banners, the cloaks on your characters and the weapons, looks AMAZING!

While definitely informative, I would disagree with your recommendation NOT to take Draigo. While my meta is uber-competitive (yay me), giving full rerolls, while remaining one of the strongest beatsticks in the game, he is too good not to take. Then there is the fact that he knows two powers and can cast two/deny two. Other than that, agreeing with Reskin and the strikes - they do have a place, but if you have the points to take terminators, why would you not take them?

Other than that, good video, and I hope to see more soon!

Good note about deathstars in 9th. I've definitely noticed the efficiency of my Paladins has dropped since this edition rolled out.

I think that Strike Squads can definitely do work. You can pump out a lot of smites with MSU and if you go first you get a ton of storm bolter shots for their price. I just have a hard time stomaching how squishy they are, which is all personal preference. In my mind's eye, my Grey Knights are implacable and indestructible. One dying to a single lasgun shot makes me sad.

Thank you for your kind words!

Skywrath, I definitely see the argument there. When his storm shield gave him a 3++, he was just too good not to take. But now I feel like I can comfortably step away from Draigo (and named characters in general). He's still good from a competitive standpoint by now I don't feel like he's necessary for my lists.

Yeah, tbh, this stupid stormshield change has really affected Draigo more then the intended buff to termies that I think it was meant to cause. I used to take Draigo and also have his as my warlord, because he was completely un-killable. And it denied my opponent VP based on slay the warlord in previous editions. And even in the early stages of 9th, deny a few options for secondary objective. Everyone takes abhor the witch against GK now and with other better secondary objective options. Having an un-killable warlord isnt necessary.

He's still one of the best options we have in the HQ slot though. With the current auras, hes such a force multiplier, and GK's really need force multiplying!

Smites get harder to cast now, but the idea of just more objective denial and board control really questions what to take in 9th edition.

Dude, even losing a strike marine, I want to cry, having been on the losing end for quite a few editions now, I've learnt to deal with the pain and heartbreak of putting models on the table and taking them right back off again. All the while, having my friend across the table laugh and cackle like some dark jester harlequin or something.

I think sadistically, I take strike squads to deny my opponent the pleasure of killing a terminator.
