With the changes wrought in codex SM, especially considering some of the stratagems being folded into units permanently, what changes do think may be coming? For me I could see them putting part of the virulent rounds stratagem, namely making bolters plague weapons, into every plague marine profile. So we end up getting plague bolter, pistols etc. Would be thematic and a nice little buff, as I see them nerfing arch contaminator in this ed. What does everyone think, what other changes would you like to see or expect? Hopefully reroll ones is rolled into LoC and Typhus. Im really hoping that the 4++ Daemon engine relic makes it in there. I'm most curious as to the new cost of plague marines after two wounds. Same for Scythe type weapons. - 2 LP. Thats an obvious and pretty sure one. Not that sure is, if for example Deathshrouds go to LP 4 or Possessed to LP 3 (Or if they even stay in the codex, as GW seems to try to keep them out of the fun all the time, see the clarification to the "something Monstrosity" stratagem - 2 new units. We saw these, one a character one a fortification (?). I doubt there will be much more. - Reshuffle stratagems. Some will go (useless ones mainly) and others will join (from War of the spider). Brace yourself for losing favorites here - Warlord traits. These need to be rebalanced. There is one awsome (Contaminator) and a few "meh" (The toughness enhancers) and a few "never" (damage auras) - Damage Auras. These need to be adressed in whole. They do not work. Increase Range, increase damage, increase odds, pick 2. - Relics. Again a very few good (outside the company ones, these are ok) followd by mainly "never" (The deaths head. Really? Roll to hit, then roll for 6, reroll 1? Per model? So 6 MW on 30 models, maybe? In particular, I expect the Maggotmancer model available as part of Space Marine Heroes series 3 to get some form of specific rules – but whether that's a new entry or simply a new psychic power list/option, I don't know. I want something units other than plague marines will benefit from. Some loyalist examples: Ignore light cover and bolt hits of 6's get an additional hit. That's great and benefits pretty much every unit. Can charge after advancing or falling back, and can advance and shoot assault no penalty. That would help drones, melee plague marines, terminators, Daemon Princes and more. Morty would love it. I want traits like that, where other things besides plague marines can benefit from it. If all they did was give PM and termies the extra wound, gave morty that buff, reworked the legion trait (and add a mono bonus, or reduce the point cost of everything in the codex because loyalist got mono buffs) and gave us access to dark hereticus spells, I'd be stoked. Everything that is a 6+ will become unmodified... so no more MW on 5+. On that, I expect grenades to become max 3MW The chaos lord and sorcerer will probably go, along with possessed and possibly chaos spawn. Cloud of flies will be gone Be prepared for a lot of nerfs coming. GW wants this edition to be more of a slog, rather than the total wipeout games of 8th. I use a sorceror on palequin to access the dark herticus powers but that's kinda lame because I only want warp time and precidence. Also it would be nice if they tweeked the original relics. Like that skull grenade. Perhaps change it to say something like "roll for each model on a 5 it suffers a regular wound, on a 6 it suffers a mortal wound. All the loyalist marines can use their chapter's specific spells or the generic marine ones. DG Should get their 6 spells and access to the generic 6. That would be fair. But GW has a tendency to poop all over chaos marines, so I doubt we will get it haha. I think the way it is currently that plague companies hand out extra relics/WL traits/strats is the way to go. If space wolves won't get custom traits in their supplement then we wont either. I very much doubt that Spawn will be cut from the codex - they are the very stuff of chaos and very fluffy for DG. Possessed might get a rework just like the "new" Hounds of Morkai, so maybe the regular Possessed stats + inbuilt DR and something extra. What we really need is a reworked psychic discipline (perhaps 2 different - 1 buffing and 1 for dealing damage? ROT/GROW). jgascoine011 Posted October 28, 2020 Share Posted October 28, 2020 Here is what i am really hoping for 1) Plaguemarines & terminators getting the extra wound 2) Taking nurglings does not break the codex 3) A relic that lets us teleport a unit veil of darkness style 4) PBS/Drones becoming BS3+, with the mortar becoming a flat 6 shots, but maybe -1 to hit if firing indirect 5) The grenade dude become a unit upgrade for plague marines. Agreed on all of these, also, we need better plague surgeon rules.
