Sensible dice...I may actually get a ton of those...

I like the cover of this one a lot. I just kind of wish there was some way of actually making manifest most of those guys as presented without having to take a knife to the Aquila on the Intercessor chests. My hope for a Primaris Kill Team kit lives on, though...

The combat patrol will thrive or die based on price, but to me it really depends on the Codex rules to see if the selection of units is worth it.

Shame we didnt get any unique Primaris mini.

Better than the wolves that had just half box of reivers with a primris upgrade kit of wich reivers can use only half of the pieces and packed and advertised as a "brand new unit"

At least the DW was spared of that insult

Sadly the heavies aren’t out yet, same with assault intercessors, otherwise the start collecting boxes would be more diverse.

This also might explain why certain units are temporarily out of stock, they got repackaged into the start collecting sets.

The DW box sucks. Can't think of anyone buying that who already plays DW. Nor would I suggest it to a new player. I'd tell them to buy the OG marine dw box, the elite or command base box and go from there. You'd get tons of bits play around with. The vets arms also scale to primaris easily

I play SW and getting a few more reivers to use as those new units most likely isn't something people wasted time previously to include in their wolves list. The Battle leader is a cool model. Getting a deal on the warsuit is also nice. Which I will throw into my salamanders army

Would prefer that over nothing.

"Insult". Ha! Give me a break.

Codex dice and cards for me I think. I have enough models in the Deathwatch backlog already to be getting on with.

I think I'm in the same boat, except I'm tempted by the Combat Patrol box provided they don't copy the Index rules for kill teams.

yeah I dont think thats gonna happen. They could have thrown in some bikers instead. That way they could be used in a killteam together.

Man.. could have used Heavy Intercessors in the patrol box, at least then you could have made a kill team. Price is a factor, as well as if the Aggressors are a real kit or the flamer only EBT.

Come on, there is negative million chance these are ETB. First, because GW stopped making them, second, because these guys have DW pads on which is impossible to do with ETB marines without cutting, and as you well know, knives/saws don't exist for GW anymore. Also, wrong head but that is just coup de grace :whistling:

Hate to tell you that, but SW and DW SC are gone from store. Judging by FB replies, these things arrived to kill them. Which is a shame because DW box was excellent, if it didn't vanish without warning I'd grab a few more.

Knowing recent GW greed, I am scared to think of price of these

Same for me I think, the skull on the dice is a tab bit annoying, I like just having one logo but these are far better than the other recent chapter ones which were never designed to be used in a normal game.

The Spacewolf one is a better deal(If these are the same price) as it swaps an Apothecary for a squad of Reivers and a squad of Aggressors for a Warsuit. Both have too many Intercessors for my liking though.

Agreed, they do like to show the Flamer ones on most of the boxes but they do have shoulder pads on so that pretty much shows its the full kit.

I think the Chaplain from the Indomitus box is as close as were are going to get, it Cassius in all but name.

I think I'm in the minority here but I don't think the Deathwatch box is that bad. If I hadn't just added ten Intercessors and three (ETB) Aggressors to my previously all Firstborn army I'd have bought it - I have loads of Chapter pads left over from my Veterans, that Lieutenant looks much better in Deathwatch colours, and the Apothecary model is a personal favourite.

It is nice, but thanks to new really stupid kill team rules, you can't even build anything coherent out of it (and thanks to supplement dropping mere weeks after Index, there is really low chance of them fixing it). Also, Agressors were in million kits so far, Inceptors would have been much better (in fluff terms, too).

Plus, Azaiel is right, GW pointlessly wasted multiple release slots giving other chapters redundant lieutenants and captains no one asked or wanted (if them mass stuffing unsold ones in loot boxes is any indication) but using one of these slots to make DW kill team champion or watch lieutenant with xenophase blade or something was apparently asking too much. Oh wait, that's asking for 5 minutes spent writing new datasheet from Kelly and Cruddace, of course it's too much

Then there is the fact old DW SC is tremendous value in both modelling and economic terms, and knowing GW recent prices, they are about to ruin it for new players with this box. I really hope I am wrong, but anyone wants to bet I will be?

I agree

DW would need a primaris sprue too with all those nice sculpted pads for chapters

If in future GW will put the DW firstborn to legends and OOP we will be able only to have sculpted pads and decals for the 11 main chapters

Also the new DW ComPat box is not that good considering how bad aggressors are now

Maybe something like 5 hellblasters instead so you could also build a kill team and not just two/three separate units

Ha ha ha. I expected nothing and I am still underwhelmed. New patrols are £85 or 110€ Remember when SC, with similar contents, was half that?

For comparison:

New Deathwatch Combat Patrol £85
Intercessors £35
Aggressors £30
Apothecary £22.50
Lieutenant £20
2x Upgrade Sprues £18
Total £125.5
Savings £40.5

Old Deathwatch SC: £60
Artemis £17.50
2 Kill Teams £50
Venerable Dreadnaught £35
Upgrade Sprue £9
Total £111.50
Savings £51.50

New Space Wolves Combat Patrol £85
Invictor £37.50
Intercessors £35
1/2 Reivers £17.50
SW Battle Leader £20?
2x Upgrade Sprues £18
Total £128
Savings £43

Old Primaris SW SC £60
Intercessors £35
Aggressors £30
SW Battle Leader £20?
2x Upgrade Sprues £18
Total £103
Savings £43

Deathwatch have a new savings of 32% to the old one of 46%
Space Wolves have a new savings of 33.5% to the old one of 41%

And you have to spend extra to get that. Bravo GW...

Probably just data cards and the regular codex for me. I ended up ordering some Chessex dice with the DW symbol back in 7th. The intercessors are pretty cool if I didn't already have 3 5-man units... and with the recent change of vets going to 2 wounds, Vets are going to be more appealing from a customization point of view. Would definitely recommend grabbing some Vet boxes in addition to this kit for those pre-made should pads. You should have quite a few left over after using up the first 5 on the Vets.

The kill team box comes with 17 should pads + 1 Blackshield. That should easily leave 2 5-man units worth of pre-made chapter pads to stick on intercessors, etc. I had to use terminator pads on the aggressors.

I suspect the combat patrol box will come with a 3rd DW upgrade sprue. The Apothecary came with one when you bought him by himself and the SC box comes with 10 intercessors... that eats up 2 sprues of regular DW pads. Plus the LT has a DW shoulder.

I realize most of us are vets ourselves but just leaving a note for any new folks that stumble their way in here.

- The new combat patrol box is a good, generic way to start your collection

- The DW Start collecting box (old now) is an ideal starting point - Captain Artetmis, Ven Dread and 2 Kill Teams

- The Blackspear Strike Force is probably the best starting point if you have nothing and are committing to Deathwatch as an army (or if you already have the start collecting and want to expand)

**Note that the Blackspear Strike Force is not a money saving deal, it just bundles some good (and unique) units together

- The DW Start collecting box (old now) is an ideal starting point - Captain Artetmis, Ven Dread and 2 Kill Teams

You mean was. Like I said above, too bad if you're new player looking for entry to game, no more SC for you. Even though AoS keeps them.

Sigh, I had little plans of buying SC for SM or BA but now seriously considering grabbing one before GW kills both :unsure.:

I've seen a few in FLGS and in store at a GW location. They still exist, you just have to make a move soon. Even amazon had some of the SC boxes at a slightly cheaper price.

You can probably find Dark Vengeance if you dig deep enough. It doesn't change the fact it's not really a viable option for most of new players, especially seeing people will soon realize they are OOP now and soon every copy left will have its price doubled.

From my perspective, there is a grand total of a single GW store in my country, plus a handful of independent stores with small stock, so if I want something specific more often than not I need to go to internet sellers - and surprise, surprise, most of these don't have big stock either so they tend to order just what people bought. Which means none of them had option to buy SC DW for a few weeks now at least, and a few paltry copies left in more expensive shops already have prices 50% higher - and that is before 95% of players even realized what is going on...

Shame we didnt get any unique Primaris mini.

That is the one thing I was hoping for model wise; a Primaris Watchmaster.

It's still second to the rules for me.

This thread will be closing soon, once the Supplement is out. Until then, let's try to keep the negativity over the Index in perspective since we are looking at rules which will supersede it in a week or two.

Fair point. There will be ample space and time to complain about the weak supplement rules then ;)

Though I'm eager to see what they might have planned on WarCom this week.
