I used the Age of Sigmar Crypt Horrors/Crypt Flayers kit and replaced the heads with spare Talos Faceplates and spare Talos arm plates on the front of the wings. Some extra vials and bits and bobs on the backs and chest and they look pretty great. They're the go to for most people I think but there's definitely plenty of models to use to get the same sort of effect

I totally agree with Brother TrawlingCleaner. It happens I used that for a different project (in my case I made bat-themed Daemon Princes of Nurgle), and I just want to highlight something you probably can't get from the product shots:

In the finished product pics you see these guys with these bony spiky protrusions, like tusks, on their backs. They're actually separate. There's these little ball socket joints for them to be glued on. I left them off and used those sockets to look like boils leaking pus, BUT for your purposes that's where I'd stick the vials for a Grotesque.

Im reading your comments now and I'm really impressed by the crypt ghouls/flayers :) Last time i made grots, I chose between those and some ogre bodies i think. But they definately look excellent to paint and make. I saw some picture today, and they seem to have lots of flesh to dig in the pencil into ;)
