I think the Stubber was removed from the Goliath and replaced with a Satellite Up-Link.

The autocannon was, which is why there is the converted uplink thing on the passenger side near the cabin. I left the stubber on, because no proper 40k vehicle is completely unarmed, even if it doesn't have ammo/work.

Why hello there.

There is indeed no Heavy Stubber on David, he is a repurposed civilian Goliath, not a repurposed for GSC uprising.  That said, you may be able to obtain one for David in the course of the story.

Also I don’t know how easy it would be to model, and how much it would obscure, but David has a canvas/cloth cover over the back, the sort that you often see on trucks full of soldiers in films.

Yeah, I deliberately left that off- don't know if I want to try to make something for that or not.

Looks good! I wonder if either of the market stall pieces from the Underhive Market terrain would fit over the back? You could trim the legs to the right length and sit it on top? (without gluing so you could get to the stuff underneath!)

So I will narrate helping with repairs and his own repairs shortly here. And thanks for all that good info. The other ideas for stuff to spend my XP on was Blade centric combat like Swift attack, Blademaster, Combat Master, or Crushing Blow. Still investigating.

Swift attack is a level 3 advancement and Crushing Blow is level 4, so those can be in your future but not quite yet.

Blademaster and Combat Master are level 6 advancement if you go down the assault route, which all things considered I suspect you will, but level 6 is still a  long way down the road.

Looking at the Guardsmen level 1 and 2 (which does appear a bit more sparse then some of the others level 1 and 2 options) Sound Constitution, and Quick Draw seem like good choice for Kazimir, with Survival, Dodge and Awareness having some potential uses.  A Simple Weapon or Ballistic Skill increase could also be handy. Or save the XP for later.

How did you all like Kazimir's work with Rivia?

Machine God makes a good suggestion with breaking the text up, much easier to read that way.

Also, and this might just be me and my grasp of English, but the tense seems inconstant, is English a second language for you? I know I struggled with past verse present for a long time as I learned English.

Maybe it is all rolled up and stowed. :)

I have the following housekeeping at the moment, shout if I missed something

  • @A.T. / Aria – 200 XP spent, saving 50, Full health (assuming use of First aid)
  • @BadgersinHills / Ariel – 250XP still to spend, 6 Damage (First aid at PDF station not yet done)
  • @Petragor / Helene – 250XP still to spend, 1 Damage (did you want to use First aid?), still has a cold
  • @TechCaptain / Kasimir – 250XP still to spend , 1 Damage left after Auto- and Proanguine
  • @Lord_Ikka / Ravia – 200 XP spent, saving 50, Full health
  • @Machine God / Varn – 200 XP spent, saving 50, Full health (all healed up)

@Trokair - I think that from his posts that TechCaptain is a US Veteran.

In that case it is probably my improper grasp of English.

@Trokair - No you are not wrong, it's just he has missed out words in his post that make the tenses confusing. It's written in past tense (a post of what Has Happened).

If you will forgive the War and Peace blurb again I will show you with Bold and also place paragraphs:

Kazimir stuck with his Goliath when Rivia the Techpriest wanted to get it into a garage for repairs. As a Hiver and a Driver designated, he knew the simple incantations of assistance and maintenance for the vehicles in his charge. His help was minimal beyond the stuff that required brute strength and muscle, but this was the second time that he had watched this particular Goliath get repaired and had assisted even in his limited fashion. Close attention was paid to what a real Techpriest like Rivia did and what the old man Kastn, learnt by learning from his betters in this area. He was careful though to only do what he was guided to do in the holy name of the Omnissiah.

Unlike some guard units, the Cogger Hive Guard had close relations to the disciples of the Omnissiah for they provided the blessed training machines and there were also the whispers that House Therrica of Cogger who provided most of the officer material were all in bed with Forge World Mjorn. His own heritage as a factory worker made it where he was exposed daily for machines before, he joined the guard. Little by little as he regained his sense of self, memories of his life on Cogger returned and with it understanding of his position as a layman to the Omnissiah and the Ecclesiarchy.

Back to his actions of the day however, he had helped repair the front end of David, especially cleaning the scorch marks, sewing the holes in the tarps, pounding flat metal pieces that would be worked into the grill and hood all while humming the hymns he learned as a child. Then when Rivia moved onto upgrading the Expeditions armory, he stayed back as protocol dictated but his ears searched for the hymns of improvement that enjoined the Machine Spirits, the cants of sharpening that was used on his blade that made it so much sharper than it was. Some of the actions he observed were beyond his simple understanding, but he filed it away like he filed away operation plans and map reading for he knew one day it might be useful if assigned away from a Techpriest. He knew that he was somewhat a failure at the technical aspects of what Rivia was doing and felt that he may have been an annoyance to her or hindered her when it came to the concentration needed for her work on their weapons, but he was curious.

He had asked what questions he could and fetched what tools she needed when he understood what that tool was. The rites of the sighting and the arcane nature of the attachment on the religious one's own blade were quite a bit too complex compared to the sharpening of the edges of his big sword. When she was done with those tasks, he had requested gently her help with the chants for his own internal machines to start the healing process within him. The damage wasn't bad, but he wanted to be in tip top shape in case there was more trouble. In a Meditation like pose, he concentrated on the grey goo that was his new blood. He listened to the whirl of machinery as it was pushed through his body, and he felt where his heart had been enhanced. With thoughts so focused he mentally flicked the switches needed to increase the speed of the process within him.

I am a U.S. Veteran and I just struggle with Language Arts for English. Due to my being better at Math and Words I became an Aerospace Engineer. I will go back and correct my post mostly like Machine For said when I have a bit of time.

No worries- compared to some stuff I read as a detentions deputy everyone here is worthy of praise equal to Chaucer in terms of grammar and spelling.

So I am thinking taking up that WS increase. I am still thinking otherwise, but I did see something interesting that isn't a part of the Guardsmen advances. Trade Technomat technically is what Kazimir is leaning to with his constant maintenance of David, his old assault laspistol (which I eventually want to get back to reliable.), his sword, and now possibly an old Autopistol.

Dodge or Sound Constitution is what I am debating between mainly while exploring the books.

Sorry for my absence, life has been a little busy recently.

Helene will just sleep off her cold damage, since it's just the one point.

As for XP, she'll purchase the Deceive and Inquiry skills for 100 XP each so she can actually start, y'know, being the party's Face

Session Two will start in the next few days.

If anybody had any questions or such now let me know.

@TechCaptain Please let me know once you have finalised your XP Spend, Still goign for Dodge and SC?

@BadgersinHills likewise let me know what you want to do with the 250XP, otherwise it will just be saved for future use. I have asumeed that Ariel would use the first aid station and have roll for you. 1d10/2 round up = 4/2 = 2 wounds, 4 damage left.

Going for Dodge and WS advance. unless I can get Trade Technomat somehow. And saving the last 50. This is will make him at least a little better in close combat and getting to combat.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey @Petragor and @Trokair, do I need to roll to see if Ariel notes Helene's departure and guesses that she isn't going to collect water? The idea would be that she follows Helene from a distance just in case there's some wildlife or any danger.

Edited by BadgersinHills

No, not in general, at the moment it is narrative time and Helene did clearly say where she was going, the fact she is not getting water is not something the other characters would immediately notice. So as long as you narrate well enough and accordingly to the action your character can do what you want.

If you want to roll dice then I guess a successful Ordinary (+10) Awareness test (perception) will let you know that there is something off, for example that she did not take a bucket, giving you reason to investigate.

Now if you wanted to follow by stealth for some reason, that will require a roll. Concealment is a basic skill, so even if you don’t have the skill you can test on half staff. Concealment if an Agility stat test, and in this case would be opposed (to anybody noticing you trying to sneak after Helene/away from camp.
