—————

I'm throwing them out here as I am torn the route id like to go with. Now, these will be my first games of Crusade play as well as still early play of 9th.

Question - Can you spend RP for Character Upgrades before first battle? (Warlord Traits, Warhead, etc) or is it after the battle you can spend RP?

Strats

List 1: pretty straight forward in terms of using LRC/Knights as a hammer and anvil backed up by the chappy. Dread and Terminators will back up on objectives. An Elite Durable Force is the idea.

List 2: adds in the librarian for terromancy and captain for rerolls. Raven wing for speed overall shooting for a balanced approach.

List 3: Armoured force running up the board with heavier firing platforms hoping to lay down turn 1 offensive.

I can link battle scribe when not on my mobile phone. However Battle scribe dosent have an actual army roster sheet yet.

You can't start with a Deathwing list in Crusade. You MUST start with the 25PL Combat Patrol level, which is Patrol Detachments-only (unless you're playing Knights, which is the only exception)

The 50PL for your starting Crusade roster is the list of units you can use, not your army from the get-go

The easiest way to understand it is that you start by building a 50 power level crusade roster.  Once that is made, then you gain 5 RP, which could be spent on increasing your Supply Limit prior to your first match.

I think you expand your list prior to the first match, however I don't think you can start with a 5 man squad in your 50 power crusade list and then expand it to a 10 man squad using your starting 5 RP without also taking the Fresh Recruits requisition.

For my crusade list, Imperial Knights, since I wanted both of my knights to be characters, that had to be done at the time they were added to the roster, so I had to spend the 2 RP for specialist reinforcements before the first game.

I haven't seen anything that states that you first match MUST be 25 pl combat patrol.

On page 332 of the BRB, step 1 is selecting battle size followed by stage 2 muster armies.  Neither section forces you in to a patrol detachment with the exception of if you are playing a Combat Patrol mission, which does restricts you to 25 power and the Patrol detachment and gives an exception to Knights.

Since your roster has 50 power to start with, nothing is preventing your first game from being an Incursion battle using a Vanguard Detachment

I'm going to advise against starting with a Deathwing army when playing crusade.  Instead build toward a Deathwing army.  Otherwise you are missing out on the story aspect of Crusade.

If you check out pages 54 and 55 of the Dark Angels codex you see our chapter specific Requisitions.  With the exception of interrogation all of our other requisitions push your crusade force toward Deathwing.

Inauguration - Gives a unit that kills a Fallen the Inner Circle keyword or lets them be traded out for a Ravenwing or Deathwing unit. (doesn't work on scouts, characters or vehicles).

So this makes any unit a Deathwing unit.  You know just in case you wanted to field Heavy intercessors in your Deathwing detachment.  Otherwise you promote your squad to be a DW / RW squad of your choice, with the same number of battle honors.

Inner Circle - gives the inner circle keyword to a character when they gain a rank.

So you included RWBK in your DW detachment, and really wanted to take a Chaplain on a bike to run with them, but didn't want that to cost you 2 CP for a support detachment.  Done!

The Lion and The Wolf - gives a model in a unit +1A.  (can only be used once per model, but you can slowly upgrade the full squad to all have +1A)

This one is the coolest to me.  Screw the SW specific buff.  +1A is veteran status.  Now it is expensive at 1 RP per model, but it makes any unit a veteran squad version of that unit.  And it makes any elite unit that much more boss.

I wouldn't advise using this on units you plan on replacing with Inauguration until after you've replaced them.  But for squads that you want to keep and just give Inner Circle to, yeah jack them up.
