Here's the photos, in chronological order, but separated potentially by a few minutes or days. Can't remember!

After literally a week of assembly I ended up here;

Then I primed them;

Yes, that is black primer for a bone coloured army.

Then I sprayed them all brown;

After that the ivory went on;

As you can see theres some additions, the warlord model arrived the same day I finished the ivory on the main bulk of the force, so I did him on his own;

Gloss varnish and oil paint wash came later;

Now I'm in the process of painting the details as I go, here's were I was at a couple of days ago;

With this log in place now I'll try and post regular ish updates, though I expect the visible change between updates to be pretty small!

Wow! You’re already a lot farther along than I thought you’d be. It’s amazing to see how the oil wash really transforms the model; accentuating a lot of the details. What ratio of oil to mineral spirits do you use for your wash. Do you wipe off the excess or just wash the model and then let it dry?

I get the paint quite thin, probably just a little thicker than something like nuln oil. I often do an all-over wash, but for these I did a more targeted recess shade. It keeps the flat panels cleaner and is actually quicker than an all over shade and clean up.

Thank you for the explanation. I can’t wait to see more of your army.

Put the first layer of green on the Deathwing Knights tabards yesterday (I actually finished them late last night but didn't get a photo yet)

Not sure what I'm going to do to diversify the colours on them, as there's a LOT of bone and green and not much else at the moment.

Put the Deathwing Knights to one side last night and did some work on the 'regular' terminators. Red on the storm bolters is done and quite a bit of the blacking out too.

Double whammy post today, yesterday I painted the faces on the Deathwing knights (quick and dirty, basecoat, 2 washes and a one-coat glaze), took about an hour.

Then this afternoon while my daughter was napping I varnished everyone so I can start on the metallic paints tomorrow. The bone colour has really come out with the Matt varnish, the gloss had made it darker somehow.

Been chipping away at these slowly, got most of them to this stage now;

I'm calling that basically finished, got a few little details left to fill in on some of the grunts and then I can do fun stuff like power weapons and the banner!

Undecided as to whether I can be bothered to paint the little lens on the shoulder targeter thing. Seems like a lot of effort and there are about 40 of them in the army!

I'd vote yes (if you were asking). Everything else looks so sharp that leaving that last lens blank would seem like an oversight, and mar the final effect a little.

Yeah I was worried someone would say that, mostly because you're right

You could paint the dot metallic and use one of those soulstone wash colours or a contrast paint :huh.:  to put a drop in it and it'll look like a lens but probably save you hours...

great work by the way, I got sympathy burnout just looking at the paint stages... let alone painting it all :laugh.:

Cheers, Mithril

Been working away at these guys an hour a day before my daughter wakes up, finished the power sword blades on the sergeants:

and then this morning did most of the details on the apothecary, since there's hazard stripes it's now officially a 40k army!
