Experimental Destroyer Rules (Homegrown)

Hi All,

Thought I'd share this here to see what people think. The FAQ did a lot to make Destroyers more viable, but with the bulk of the squad shooting regular bolt pistols, it still doesn't feel like Destroyers are using the forbidden weaponry shunned by the rest of the legion. Put together some experimental rules, curious to see what others think of them... Fair? Balanced? Appropriate? Suggestions?

The destroyers in the faq are a very under rated unit; they have more damage output than equivalent points of assault marines, including power weapons.

They might not use a ton of esoteric weapons, but can get the special flamers presented in book 8 or rad missiles, can get phosphex and use rad grenades. Adding rad rounds is fluffy, but the implementation is...off. Against legion armies it's largely a wash and arguably worse than the cheaper version in the faq , since ~12 armour saves from a full squad is whatever. But against mechanicum, daemons and possibly custodes it's just way, way better.

I'd go with the radium carbine rules and less of a point increase as a result of you wanted them to have rad rounds

I don’t have Book 8 but I’ve always thought destroyers should have access to chem-weapon flamers (and heavy flamers, and hand flamers). Seems only Death Guard get chem weapons normally? But that could be done via a new squad “destroyer support squad” bit like Mournival rules style.
