Firedrake Cordova
I really like that you're giving all of your marines a bit of background. Brother Anar
Recent efforts with bases. I’m not mad keen on painting bases so previously commissioned a friend to paint them. The overall theme of the project is different platoons covering different areas of a world during an invasion so there is consistency in the basing across a few squads. Brother Anar
Like many expedition fleets, The 1929th contains several member of other legions on secondment, passing through or other missions whose tales deserve a remembrance. “The Betrayed Phoenix.” Sgt Ali Pasha - 95th Company, 10th Millennial, 3rd Legion Moritat Lieutenant Baelandron of the World Eaters has been with the 10th Millennial for some years. Originally sent on a short secondment I believe he found any reason to extend his stay with the IIIrd. He did not follow the fashion of self mutilation which seemed to grip our cousins in the World Eaters and he confided in me that he doesn’t recognise his legion any more. When news came of the 12th’s betrayal Baelandron was not surprised. He secluded himself for a day and returned, clad in the raiment of the War Hounds. Shortly after the Custodes arrived, Darius appeared as if from thin air. He held a long council with the expedition leadership. I know not what was discussed but there can be no doubt that he came directly from the Sigilite. Speaking with members of the Thousand Sons contingent confirmed a few scant details. Veteran Sergeant Darius was a member of the “Pyrae”, that his colours are those of the original 15th legion and that he has a lethal reputation even within the warlocks of the Thousand Sons. Firedrake Cordova
I like the plasma coils on Baelandron and the knuckle-cracking pose on Darius Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/370518-the-betrayed-phoenix-10th-millennial-emperors-children/page/5/#findComment-6094413 Share on other sites
Brother Anar
My current WIP. A bit of a command squad/palatine blades kit bashing passion project. Do folks reckon they need cloaks as well or is that too much (if I that can be such a thing with Emperors Children?) Firedrake Cordova
I think they work well without the cloaks, but there again I'm not a massive fan of cloaks on marines ... Tallarn Commander
No cloaks needed--they are excellent! Brother Anar
I recently received a message about millennials, companies and general headcannnon and sources that I used to come up with this. When coming up with the project. I reasoned that in 40k ideal codex astartes land, there are 10 companies to a chapter/millennial so approx 1000 marines. A legion has a lot more than that. Early heresy lore (Betrayal black book) states 30 millennials in the Emperors Children legion with approx 90,000+ astartes. I reasoned if they had 30 millennials there’d be about 3000 men per millennial led by a Lord Commander. Then x4 battalion’s per millennial of 750 each led by an Lt Commander. Finally I reasoned 150 approximately per company led by a Captain. In my headcannon, the Emperor’s Children start with 10 companies per millennial (companies 91-100 for 10th Millennial) then expanded with a further 20 companies when the Emperor’s Children got bigger. Therefore 391st-400th companies. Using the famous characters. Eidolon would be in charge of 1st Millenial and commanding 1st-10th companies I.e. Julius Kaserone, Solomon Demeter, Marius. Vairosean and Saul Tarvitz. Vespasian would be 2nd Millenial and in charge of Lucius. This fit enough for my own logic. As i was writing this answer and reflecting on my headcannon I realised I got the numbering wrong and they should be 10th Millenial not 9th by this structure and logic… I’ve only had this project for 15 years and finally realised my mistake…..! Time to repaint a few minis and change a lot of posts.
