Brother Anar
What to say about the Primarch that hasn’t been recorded elsewhere? His origins? Humble. His achievements? Numerous. His betrayal? Ineffable. I still cannot understand why our lord would do this. Wild theories are abound but I can only think that he must have gone mad or become “possessed”. We have been away for many years but I remember Fulgrim as a man full of fire for the Great Crusade and it’s promise of hope for our species. He was the peacemaker of the Primarchs. He believed that anyone could better themselves. He encouraged us to be men not weapons by fostering the Liberal and Fine arts amongst the legion. In happier times I remember him leading us into battle, bearing Fireblade. He could lead us anywhere for we had absolute faith in his commitment to the mission, to Unity and to The Emperor. Some openly hate him for this betrayal but I think it’s to mask the sheer grief which I certainly feel. “The Betrayed Phoenix.” Sgt Ali Pasha - 95th Company, 9th Millennial, 3rd Legion Spoiler Grotsmasha, ZeroWolf, Rusted Boltgun and 4 others 5 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/370518-the-betrayed-phoenix-9th-millenial-emperors-children/page/4/#findComment-6026415 Share on other sites

Brother Anar
When we finally made port in imperial space an unexpected party met our expedition. Every Remembrancer and anyone else who could find an excuse, was present when Lord Commander Brant received the Custodes. I had never met any of the Ten Thousand but their bearing matched their reputation. Shield Captain Valeria carried herself in a manner that Fulgrim would have approved of, polite and dignified but brooking no dissent. She gave us our orders from Terra. Secure the local star clusters, raid the traitors where possible and await further instructions. It went unsaid but it was obvious that they were there to ensure that the expedition didn’t have a change of heart. I eventually managed to learn more about our “guests” after being beaten across a training hall by Kyuzo. It seems the custodes are just as storm tossed as the rest of us. They all come from different divisions of the Ten Thousand who happened to be in the same region of space when the civil war started. Spartacus and Shaka were part of a major shield host en route to rejoin their comrades, Benedict is a liaison to the Adeptus Arbites and part of the grim sounding Dread Host. Finally Kyuzo and Valeria were responsible for guarding imperial tax collectors. I doubt they will tell me their individual tales readily but I’m persistent. “The Betrayed Phoenix.” Sgt Ali Pasha - 95th Company, 9th Millennial, 3rd Legion A nice little diversion with some awesome minis. These should be a small allied detachment in future games. Brother Anar
“Stand down! You have led the cream of your world's warriors with honour and skill; For all the good it has done you. Now end this farce, submit to compliance and join us as brothers. That, or become a steaming pile of goo, like your friend there!" Lt Cdr McComber, upon storming the planetary command bunker of 1929-27 95th Company command squad. His red captain’s cloak is further adorned with the pelt of an Urush Dire Wolf slain during the Unification Wars. The artificer terminator armour contains many wonders like the integrated plasma bolter as part of the suit’s power fist. Lieutenant Commander McComber’s left shoulder heraldry is a rarity these days for it shows the original IIIrd Legion markings prior to meeting with Fulgrim. Most warriors that carry these colour are members of the Evocatii. The 9th is amongst those Millenials which mark service length using the left shoulder. Those new to the legion and yet to “earn their wings” display no heraldry until the completion of their first campaign. Once earned, the yellow version of our striking eagle will be worn up to 20 years of service. (Sgt Ashford displays his Laurel Wreath and the favour of the Warmaster on the left shoulder) The bulk of our legion wear the gold denoting anywhere between 20 and 100 years of service. White enamelling areas of armour was used to during the Unification Wars and is now worn by those with over 100 years in the legion. (Quincanus Auram has further decorated his armour and displays the Lightning Bolt citations to mark whole squad kills) “The Betrayed Phoenix.” Sgt Ali Pasha - 95th Company, 9th Millennial, 3rd Legion Edited August 13 by Brother Anar Dr_Ruminahui, Brother Christopher, Rusted Boltgun and 3 others 6 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/370518-the-betrayed-phoenix-9th-millenial-emperors-children/page/4/#findComment-6055662 Share on other sites

Brother Anar
The freehand symbols look very nice Thanks. I really wanted the pauldrons to have clean, smooth lines. I’m pleasantly surprised how this turned out as I was dreading it. It’s based on St Michael dressed in Byzantine style to go with the whole Roma Nova theme of 30k. Following the orders from Terra, the expedition war council began to plan securing the local star systems. Only the Night Lord contingent had first hand experience of fighting other Astartes and that was limited. We turned to old thought experiments and war games previously thought impossible, simulating intra legion conflict. Evocatus Safir is one of the leading strategists in the legion and his membership of our Millennial is a source of great pride. His reenlistment has not dulled his mind or gift for planning campaigns. In a former life, Duke Safir ruled the land of Landok in Franc. He fought against the forces of unity but eventually bent the knee to the Emperor. Safir took to his new life in the legions and was soon in command of 2nd Battalion 1st Millennial. The Proxima Betrayal necessitated his transfer to dreadnought. His chassis shows him in life and records his first death and other honour markings. Safir was never afraid to speak his mind in council and is one of the few who still openly speaks of our lost cousins of the 2nd Legion carrying their sigil on his left poleyn. “The Betrayed Phoenix.” Sgt Ali Pasha - 95th Company, 9th Millennial, 3rd Legion Edited September 14 by Brother Anar Raziel-TX, Mana, RolandTHTG and 2 others 5 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/370518-the-betrayed-phoenix-9th-millenial-emperors-children/page/4/#findComment-6063870 Share on other sites

Brother Anar
Support squad Deseronto have additional training on jet bikes and perform long-range recon for the company. Their fearsome firepower is often used to soften targets for the assault of squads Ali-Pasaha and Hiring. Wematin claims to be the third son of his house and a romantic. Apparently he was spurned by a lover and ran away to join the legion. Nootau joined the 3rd as part of his world’s tithe. It subsequently transpired that the tithe was of criminals. Nootau has reformed his ways and is an exemplary soldier. Legionary Ahaib is a keen botanist and voraciously catalogues the flora on the new worlds we find. The newest member of the squad. Russel has proven himself in my squad and his inquiring mind will be well suited to the recon orientated units. The Field Overseers of the Millenial are very familiar with Legionary Gadot. Questions, always questions from the man cause these numerous sanctions. He would call himself a rational sceptic and he’ll either be promoted or the overseers will wear out their punishment whips on the man. Fabian is an unimaginative and dependable soldier. “Blessed is the mind too small for doubt” so they say with varying degrees of sincerity or sarcasm. The great survivor. Riley is the sole living member of 4 separate fire teams following some terrible battles. He is utterly fearless but his eyes can’t hide the pain of loosing so many friends. Sergeant Deseronto is a skilled horseman and well suited to the saddle of a Scimitar Jetbike. His secondment to 5th legion put him amongst like minded souls and Deseronto made many comrades amongst the White Scars. Another of the squad’s Palatine Blades. Muhammad is a well rounded and intensely serious soldier. He and Vikram constantly argue about who is the better duelist; I feel we will see the stars go out before they come to a conclusion. So many, very tempting loadouts. The cost in points gives me palpitations. Brother Anar
The battalion gunship squadrons are always a welcome sight. 2nd squadron often herald their arrival by broadcasting music to further terrify the foe. I’m not convinced that it is required as Avenger Bolt Cannons speak for themselves. Squadron Lieutenant Oh Koam is always evasive as to where he got the idea from but I know the gunship crews have a particular love of the films of Fjord Copalla.
