How I plan to paint my Iron Hands dreadnaughts

I would like to use contrast Black Templar for the armor. Should I apply it over a metallic base coat?

I did this for my Cursed City Skeletons. It worked rather well, but I did thin the Black Templar with 50/50 Contrast Medium as I wasn't sure how well the metal would show through. I ended up doing two coats and still getting a reasonable black metal look.

If you don't want to thin, apply multiple thinner coats with less on your brush. you could go progressively darker to the centre of a panel and lighter at edges. Would take forever though, but look great.
