Bjorn Firewalker
"Chthonic literally means "subterranean", but the word in English describes deities or spirits of the underworld"I think that's underworld as in underground, as in not really fitting with your deep void themeChthonic Gods are ones like Hades but as I said it is the best I could do, if there's a better word I am happy to entertain it.I think "Chthonic" is fine, but if you want alternative terms (maybe for use as homonyms, so some cultists may think the Emperor and Cthulhu are one and the same), may I suggest "Abyssal" and "Dagonic", the last after H. P. Lovecraft's short story, and the Philistine god that is its namesake? Was a Dark Eldar/Drukhari Haemonculi, or a Great Unclean One (Greater Daemon of Nurgle), responsible for mutating Ork spores in this fashion? Will this make the Marines decide, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend," and ally with the Orks coming to destroy their undead brethren for being "un-Orky", in desperation? Mi-go secretly overtaken a subsector and making it work toward their alien ends Fighting a fellow Chapter (or just a company) that have been overtaken by some kind of xeno retrovirus that slowly turned them into some kind of fish-frog creatures, and prevented them from having a problem with it A book that drives the readers mad, gives them at least basic knowledge in Chaos sorcery, and/or a need to create rituals and cults praising the "Yellow King". It was printed in unknown numbers and have reappeared many times throughout the space the Prædicators consider theirs A strange xeno/warp creature that resemble a void-kraken, but seems to have a kind of intelligences, mostly noted by the way it fights and that it create strange cyclopean structures on planets or asteroids that it visits. Any living world that it lands on go through a complete natural disaster and drives sentient inhabitants mad. It appear into reality and disappear out of it following a pattern, the Prædicators try to find out where it will appear next and there damage it enough that it disappear before destroying any Imperial world/s. Bjorn Firewalker
The pauldron design looks good. Is the knob on the bottom meant to imitate design elements from historical armor? Or is it a fantasy element, maybe representing R'lyeh, where "dead Cthulhu waits dreaming"? Minigiant
In the 9th edition Space Marine codex there are three double page spreads detailing War Zones of the 41st Millenium. In an effort to continue to develop the Praedicators I aim to recreate one of my own, which I hope will lead the way for my other chapters, and potentially inspire someone who sees this to attempt the same. At the moment I am not particularly fond of the quote, but it is a start and it has some merits/points that I am keen on. Here is the outline of the conflict War Zone: Carnial When vital shipments ceased to arrive from the Oceanic world of Carnial on the edge of the Siren's Storm, the Prædicators exited the tumultuous Veiled Region of space to investigate, only to become embroiled in a brutal insurgency with an emergent Genestealer Cult. They were the anchor of the Imperial assault that cleansed Carnail and purged the Xenos. Deep within the docks and ports of this vital supply planet, Prædicators stumbled upon a horrifying conspiracy to call forth one of the monstrous Hive Fleets of the Great Devourer from the Warp to plunge the system into darkness. Identified as the Cult of the Devouring Sea, they deceived, ambushed, and sabotaged the Prædicators at every turn; As they tried to root out the infection set to end the lives of billions of people and cause immeasurable suffering. Casualties rose quickly as the inexperience of the accompanying neophytes was proving costly. If it were not for the timely arrival of Void Tridents, Atlantian Spears, and Dark Krakens, who were too investigating the sudden disappearance of vital supplies, the Prædicators would have surely perished. However, that same group of neophytes, whose inexperience proved costly, would be critical in securing strategic spaceports for their newly formed alliance. They, alongside their veteran brothers, successfully implemented a cordon for the gun-black and purple vessels of the Dark Krakens, the polished teal blue of the Atlantian Spears, and the dark blue of the Void Tridents to deploy to the surface. A hastily convened war council saw all forces fall under the command of Atlantian Spear Captain Iudex of the 5th Company. He rapidly orchestrated the Space Marines Counter-Insurgency Operations. The Cult of the Devouring Sea, with their Pelager hybrids, fraught their efforts at every turn and swarmed them from every direction, attacking them from the depths. The environment belonged to them, and they bent it to their will. Few of the Astartes had fought these before, but ultimately this troubled them little. They were abominations, and Carnail had to be restored before a Splinter Fleet could arrive, so they had to die. Iudex committed all available resources to their search and destroy operations, but it was in vain as Hive Fleet Rusalka's salivating tendril emerged at the Mandeville point. They did the best they could at evacuating the noninfected before Tyranid bioforms began to rain down on top of them. They repelled wave after wave of Xenos, cleansing them within the desalination hives, purging their presence upon the ocean floor, and eradicating the Pelager so that their genetic material could not be consumed. Still, for all of their efforts, the Great Devourer was numberless. They were falling from the skies in their thousands to consume like a deluge, and the Astartes' forces drew thinner as casualties rose, the aquanaut alliance was near broken, and many feared the worst. Their rally started as a Carcharadon Fleet who had been on the hunt for Rusalka's tails emerged out of Warp Space to board the Bioforms fleets, taking the fight to them. “The Chapters on Carnial are as varied as each man. Each are forever united by their shared experiences in that water. Many of the legends formed in those dark days, retold across Carnial, are accurate. It was a great victory for the Imperium in repelling that tendril of the Great Devourer from Carnials holy water. It would have been easy for our wills to give in, accept our fate, and be overrun by the Xenos bioforms, but our strength was not broken, merely tested. Misconceptions were shed, even the ill-omened Prædicators brought us luck, and Imperial heroes were forged in the fire of war. We hold each other in esteem, an alliance forged that will serve the Imperium and us well for the horrors to come. We were honourable, we were loyal, and we were steadfast. Admiration was felt among us, and a desire to rid us of these Xenos monstrosities was lit.” Captain Cajander Iudex Atlantian Spears 2nd Company Edited April 21, 2022 by Minigiant Bjorn Firewalker 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/371247-ia-pr%C3%A6dicators/page/4/#findComment-5817871 Share on other sites

Bjorn Firewalker
War Zone: Carnial This is well-written, but for some ambiguity at the end. Did the Carcharodon fleet's intervention allow the "aquanaut alliance" to triumph over the Tyranid splinter fleet? Or did the Carcharodons simply allow the other three Chapters' forces to evacuate with what dignity remained? I knocked up some Carnial campaign badges quickly. What do you think? White symbols are almost invisible against the yellow background, e.g., the second (skull-headed octopus) and fourth (octopus hanging from an anchor). I advise replacing the yellow with green, and the white symbols will stand out more. I personally favor the skull-headed octopus. Got pretty tight up to the word limit, and the diary entry from the Atlantian Spear entry seems off. It is the first draft for a reason though. It is meant that the Carcharadons arrival sparked the counter offensive that led to their victory I knocked up some Carnial campaign badges quickly. What do you think? All the examples I see in the codexies are black, white, and yellow. I could always just remove the radiation symbol and keep the yellow rings: Edited April 22, 2022 by Minigiant Bjorn Firewalker 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/371247-ia-pr%C3%A6dicators/page/4/#findComment-5818279 Share on other sites
