How many heavy chain axes can a unit take I wonder?

I would guess 1 per unit (both how many are on sprue and how many show up in the photos).
I'm hoping for 1 per 5 in the unit, though your probably right. I would like to make more dangerous Legionare melee squads! With two of those and a power fist on the squad leader, it's a decent threat to big monsters and vehicles too. Also, giant chain axes are cool. Edited by Marshall Mittens

I am glad to see the leaks being confirmed. I do however hate it is still "you pick either bolters or chainswords". Space marines of all kinds are trained in both. They should be able to use both bolters and chainswords.

I just got finished painting my ranged units now I'm gonna have to start all over. So our legionary are better intercessors minus the Bolt rifle though if they are tzeentch they are similar.

Points per model? 18 minimum 20 max minus upgrades. That's expensive for foot slogging fodder so we will need to change tactics on how they are employed and delivered.

Khorne again is shining through 4, str 5, -2ap attacks each. With long war and fight twice you can kill a redemptor even a Knight would be badly damaged by a unit like this. And that's just with chain swords, throw in an axe, a fist and some captain reroles or assault doctrine and you can score a kill. 10 of these bailing out of a termite is no joke.

It's a shame AOC makes khorne nessisary instead of just making the unit better, it's less of an option and it's more mandatory I think which is sad.

I propose AOC armies should ignore AOC on units they hit. :p

I didn’t catch whether or not Veterans of the Long War is going to be in the new codex. Looked in the summary but didn’t see any mention (easily could have missed it).

Both Deathguard and Thousand sons kept it so I am assuming we will too all be it with an increase in cp cost. I could be wrong though.

@Clockworkchris I know that you can't give any info at the moment, but while you're gathering info from your source, could you ask if the Legions get an extra psychic power locked to them? (Similar to what the GSC cults have) And what powers the Balefire Acolyte has access to?

No extra legion power, hereticus is my understanding

Seems like a good way to cast a few extra powers, that said everything is price dependent.

That's what I figured, just thought I'd ask. Thanks!

Were there rumours about the release date? I could've sworn thinking the rumoured date was later than expected, but now it appears the book will definitely be later than I expected.

Nothing solid - playtesters (the presumed source of these rumors) aren't privy to that information. General thinking puts the best case scenario late May or early June, but more likely July as June will likely be Horus Heresy.

"We've known for a while that a second Wound has been on the cards" - links to article from March 2022 instead of August 2020.

Still some waiting to do ("in the coming months") but it's great to see both some of the rumours confirmed & the previews actually start.

And tes, thanks CWC for sharing so much! Very hyped!

I reckon it will be very much like the eviscerator, so one mini per squad would be able to take it as an upgrade, would be my guess.

What I'm interested in now, is whether GW will be adding the upgrade sprue into the CSM box, or will they sell it seperate? I really hope the plan on selling it seperate, I don't want to have to buy a bunch of wickedly inflated boxes just to get these upgrades :dry.:

Good to see CWC get some validation! Now he just needs to get his mate to tell GW that the Termie arming restrictions are ridiculous and should be left the way they are right now! :biggrin.:

Could've sworn I read something along the lines of "June at earliest, not soon" or so, somewhere like in Feb/March. Can't remember now.

But yeah, to repeat myself from News and Rumours, maybe Codex CSM is being delayed because if WE aren't in the book, they don't want a huge gap between the two.

Once previews begin in earnest for CSM, like legion traits for everyone obviously the cat is out of the bag and they need an answer to why WE aren't in it.

I am quite excited for yesterday's confirmations on some of these rumours. Really liking these beafier CSM profiles. As an IW player, I am just wondering if boltgun CSM will be even more useless compared to the chainsword variant than before. Is there anything in these rumours to help the poor boltgun? I think the Tzeentch icon, right? Anything else?

Yup Tzeentch icon is about it as far as I can tell. To be fair though, it will all come down to who you're fighting, against marines with the AoC changes, the additional AP really won't make much of a difference. But, bolt rifles will be mostly in the same bolt, so not much of issue there either.

True, though I can see why people would be inclined to stack that bonus with Tzeench with the new Armour of Contempt in more MEQ heavy meta's.

They'll get exploding 6's to hit not ap bonus in turn 2/3 :smile.: there is also the stratagem that is for bolt rounds, so you could have exploding 6's to hit, +1ap from Tzeentch and then another +1ap from the strat, plus the 6inch range from it to, oh and also the shoot again strat... another thing to look out for is the mini sorcerer, I've got a feeling they can only buff their unit, so could be like, hitting on 2+s for all of this maybe?

I don't think thats too bad for a unit that with AoC can sit on an objective mid/long ranged with maybe a heavy bolter to go all out on the bolter strat, add any buff charecters too maybe?

I would personally find it very cool if it came out in June during Origins: I'll be there this year and that's where I was when all the 8th Ed Codices came out which really rejuvenated WH40K for me.
