M36 Imperium: Armor

Flak Armor

Flak armor is usually, but not always, full body warplate.

Physically made up of two layers, a protective and flexible body suit with attachment points for armor plating, most commonly made of armaplas.

Unlike more advanced types of armor, Flak Armor lacks any kind of energy shielding or a servo motor armature and has largely fallen out of favor by M36, with less than a thousand planets still manufacturing it.

Carapace Armor

Carapace Armor is full body semi-powered warplate.

Physically made up of a series of interlocking ceramite plates and enhanced with a servo motor armature that bears the ceramite plating’s weight.

Further enhancing the armor’s protective capabilities is a Refractor Field.

Carapace Armor by definition lacks any kind of hermetic seals without additional non-standard equipment.

Worn by the Divisions of the Planetae Militarum, Carapace Armor is the most ubiquitous type of armor in the Imperium.

Void Armor

Void Armor is full body semi-powered warplate.

Physically made up of a series of interlocking ceramite plates and enhanced with a servo motor armature that bears the ceramite plating’s weight.

Further enhancing the armor’s protective capabilities is a Refractor Field.

Void Armor is hermetically sealed, giving its wearer the ability of operate in toxic environments and the void of space for limited periods of time without any additional equipment.

Worn by the rank and file of the Solar Cohorts that make up both the Astra Militarum and Lunar Auxilia. Void Armor is a common sight across the Imperium and manufactured in staggering quantities by the various Forge Worlds across the galaxy.

Power Armor

Power Armor is full body powered warplate.

Physically made up of heavy ceramite plating placed over a body suit made of electro-motivated fibre bundles that mimics and augments the muscular strength of the wearer.

Further enhancing the armor’s protective capabilities is a Conversion Field.

Power Armor is hermetically sealed, giving its wearer the ability of operate in toxic environments and the void of space for extended periods of time without any additional equipment.

Worn by the legionaries of the Legiones Astartes and by officers of both the Astra Militarum and Lunar Auxilia. Power Armor is manufactured on Forge Worlds and many advanced worlds of the Imperium.

Tactical Dreadnought Armor

Tactical Dreadnought Armor, also known as Terminator Armor, is heavy full body powered warplate.

Physically made up of ceramite, plasteel, and even adamantium plating placed over a body suit made of electro-motivated fibre bundles that mimics and augments the muscular strength of the wearer.

Further enhancing the armor’s protective capabilities is a Construct Shield.

Tactical Dreadnought Armor is hermetically sealed, giving its wearer the ability of operate in toxic environments and the void of space for an almost indefinite period of time without any additional equipment.

What sets Tactical Dreadnought Armor apart from other types of armor in the Imperium is that there are several specialized patterns currently in use. Based off the patterns designed while the Imperium was still in its infancy, there is Cataphractii-based, Tartaros-based, and Indomitus-based.

Cataphractii-based Tactical Dreadnought Armor is typically used when fighting the Beast Orks and is designed to be an impenetrable bulwark against all that it comes across. The drawback being that it is almost dangerously slow and puts the most strain on the wearer’s body.

Tartaros-based Tactical Dreadnought Armor is typically used against the Chaos Eldar and in any Webway-based campaigns. Designed to be as swift and dexterous as Power Armor, the only drawback to truly be found is the high cost in manufacturing each unit.

Indomitus-based Tactical Dreadnought Armor is the standard variant issued to the Legiones Astartes. It represents the middle ground between the other two variants used by Astartes and is the both the cheapest and least complex design of the trinity.

Worn by veterans and squads that are expected to encounter Zone Mortalis conditions, Tactical Dreadnought Armor is a masterwork of human engineering and is exclusively produced by the Forge Worlds of the Imperium.

Hey everyone WolfLogic here, I've been working hard on additional codex entries over the past couple days so as to give you all a better idea of what this setting is like.

That said, I bounce most of my writing off Mazer before posting to see if he thinks I'm staying consistent. That said, he is going to be off the site for a lengthy period of time and I won't have anybody to talk with about DFA. As a result, I'm asking the readers (which I'm pretty sure I have since the view number keeps going up) if any of you would be willing to DM with me about DFA while Mazer is on break? I'd greatly appreciate it and you have the potential to get some juicy background details that I won't be posting here so as to avoid answering too much.

Please consider my request and let me know.

Have a good day to all of you!

EDIT: Meant to say this is an updated version of the M36 Imperial Armor Codex entry

Here's another installment of Dreams Fall Apart, this time focused on M36 Imperial Armor

M36 Imperium: Armor

Flak Armor

Flak Armor is usually comprised of an armored vest and helmet.

Physically made up of two layers, a protective and flexible body suit with attachment points for armor plating and the armored plates themselves, which are most commonly made of armaplas.

Unlike more advanced types of armor, Flak Armor lacks any kind of energy shielding nor do the full body warplate variants have a weight bearing servo motor armature. This has resulted in Flak Armor being relegated to use by the myriad Imperial militias.

Physically made up of heavy ceramite and plasteel plating placed over a body suit made of electro-motivated fiber bundles that mimics and augments the muscular strength of the wearer.

Further enhancing the armor’s protective capabilities is a Conversion Field.

Beyond its vastly improved protection over lighter types of armor, Power Armor includes Auto-Senses.

Power Armor is hermetically sealed, giving its wearer the ability of operate in toxic environments and the void of space for extended periods of time without any additional equipment.

Howdy all, I expect you didn't think you'd be getting another post so soon after the last one. Sorry to surprise you but I hope it's a good one. Here's another Codex entry about Imperial Vehicles as of M36.

I hope you enjoy it, and feel free to leave any thoughts or feedback in the comments.

M36 Imperium: Vehicles

Ground Vehicles

Dedicated Transports

Dedicated Transports are vehicles that have set aside most of their volume for the ability to transport soldiers into battle. The degree to which these vehicles are armed varies heavily between the different branches of the Imperium’s armies. In addition to being heavily armored, Dedicated Transports are additionally protected by Automantic Shielding.

Main Battle Tanks

Main Battle Tanks are heavily armored vehicles designed around a large main cannon. In support of its main armament, these vehicles usually feature pintle and sponson mounted weaponry. Further increasing its defensive capabilities, Main Battle Tanks are protected by Automantic Shielding.

Super Heavy Tanks

Super Heavy Tanks are extremely heavily armored vehicles designed around a Battle Titan-class weapon. In support of its main armament, these vehicles usually feature an array of pintle and sponson mounted weaponry. Further increasing its defensive capabilities, Super Heavy Tanks are protected by Void Shield arrays.

Artillery

Artillery in the Imperium refers to large guns fitted onto an armored chassis that is capable of either direct or indirect fire. Direct fire variants feature Automantic Shielding to further increase their survivability.

Skimmers

Skimmers are vehicles propelled by some type of anti-gravitic propulsion. The degree to which they are armed and armored varies heavily by the role each vehicle is designed to fulfill.

Walkers

Walkers are humanoid shaped vehicles piloted by a single crewman. These vehicles are armed with similar weaponry to the Main Battle Tanks of the Imperium. While not as heavily armored as the tanks of the Imperium, Walkers make up for it by being more mobile and having superior shielding in the form of Construct Shields.

Air Vehicles

Dedicated Transports

Dedicated Transports are flying armored vehicles that are designed to quickly ferry troops from orbit, across theaters, and into combat. Flyers of this type are almost always armed with weapons capable of clearing a landing zone. Additionally, Dedicated Transports are protected by Construct Shielding.

Fighters

Fighters are flying armored vehicles designed to intercept and destroy enemy air assets. Vehicles of this type are primarily armed with sophisticated missile systems and cannons capable of decimating enemy flyers in single shots. Fighters feature Atomantic Shielding as an additional protective measure.

Bombers

Bombers are flying armored vehicles designed to drop payloads on enemy cities and armies from high above. As much of the volume of these flyers are taken up by bombs or supply drops, they only feature light armaments capable of defending themselves in a pinch. As Bombers are designed to maximize the amount of payload they can carry, these flyers lack any form of energy shielding due to the necessary internal space being taken up by ordnance.

Gunships

Gunships are flying armored vehicles designed to devastate enemy ground units and provide close fire support to friendly ground units. These vehicles are extremely heavily armed with numerous weapon systems that varies depending on which branch of the Imperium’s armies the flyer was designed for. Due to Gunships propensity for coming under heavy and sustained fire, these flyers are equipped with Construct Shielding.

Here's another codex entry, this time describing the Imperial Armies, how they are deployed, supplied, and their purpose. This is part 1 of 3, the 2nd being the Mechanicum, and the 3rd being the Fleet Based navies. As always let me know what you think, comments and criticism is always welcome.

M36 Imperium Armies

Imperium Military Hierarchy

Imperial Armies (Lowest to Highest)

Imperialis Militia

Planetae Militarum

Astra Militarum

Legiones Astartes

________________________________________________

Imperialis Militia

The Imperialis Militia is made up of civilians who have volunteered to act as localized first responders in the event of invasion. These civilians have dedicated their limited free time to performing combat exercises and simulating invasion scenarios to be better prepared when an incursion actually happens.

While the Planetae Militarum is largely responsible for defending planets and orbitals from enemy forces, Militia forces are less concentrated and are meant to prevent civilian deaths and destruction of infrastructure by enemy saboteurs who have split off to attack targets of opportunity.

Each Militia is based around a Militia Armory, which are fortified buildings strategically distributed across the population centers of a planet or orbital. Containing armor, weapons, and materials to construct simple fortifications for the surrounding area. In addition to acting as a Command Center for each Militia, Militia Armories serve as rally points for Planetae Militarum formations deployed to the area.

The Imperialis Militia is supplied directly by the manufactorums of their homeworld or orbital and every Militia Armory contains some form of Flak Armor, Lasgun, and Vox Equipment. All equipment is required to meet a set of minimum specifications, but beyond that there is little in the form of standardization between planets.

Planetae Militarum

The Planetae Militarum is made up of professional soldiers who act as the first line of defense for the many planets of the Imperium. These soldiers spend the majority of their lives performing combat exercises, studying tactics and strategies, and simulating invasion scenarios to be able to effectively defend their homeworld or orbital from incursions.

Each Planet-based Guardsmen Division is based around a Guardsmen Supply Depot, massive fortresses that houses Guardsmen, their equipment, and their war machines. As each Division is expected to be a self contained army, Guardsmen Supply Depots all contain the full range of weapons, armor, and war machines available to the Planetae Militarum.

The structure and supply of Star Fort-based Guardsmen Divisions is different from their Planet-based counterparts. Favoring heavier armor and having a larger number of special weapons, these Divisions lack vehicles almost entirely. The sole exception to this are Assault Boats, specialized boarding craft meant to deploy troops directly into the heart of enemy warships.

Planet-based Guardsmen Divisions are expected to be capable of full deployment within twelve hours and Star Fort-based Guardsmen Divisions are expected to be capable of full deployment within two hours of their system’s long range sensors detecting an incoming threat.

Each world is expected to supply its Divisions with specific types of weapons, armor, and vehicles as described in the Codex Planetae Militarum to at least the current set of minimum specifications issued by the Adeptus Militarum. Many worlds go beyond these minimum requirements and put a personalized twist on their equipment. Some examples being Hydrax IV’s Divisions being armed exclusively with Plasma weapons due to their close ties with the Forge World of Ryza and Signus Prime’s Divisions primarily being armored in Power Armor, the designs having been gifted to their world by Horus after their assistance in the campaign against Auretian Technocracy in the third century of the Great Crusade. Most importantly, it is at the local level that innovation begins, in time the advanced wargear will spread across Sectors and Clusters creating a new standard for the forces of the Imperium.

Astra Militarum

The Astra Militarum is made up of highly skilled professional soldiers who are responsible for the prosecution of the Eternal Crusade and responding to threats the Planetae Militarum is unable to handle. The majority of these soldiers spend the majority of their service traveling from battlefield to battlefield, only resting between the stars and are known as Crusaders. A sizable minority is responsible for garrisoning important worlds, vital to the Imperium’s success, and are thusly named Castellans.

Crusaders are Fleet-based and typically call a given Strike Cruiser or Battle Barge their home for the entirety of their service. These starships carry with them the entire range of equipment and war machines available to the Astra Militarum several times over as each vessel transports multiple Solar Cohorts. Each Solar Cohort is meant to operate as a self contained army, and is also expected to seamlessly transition to working in tandem with other Solar Cohorts during mass-warfare operations. Once Crusaders have reached a planet’s Medium Orbit during an invasion, they are able to fully disembark from their Strike Cruiser or Battle Barge within a single hour and reach the surface within two hours.

Castellans are System-based and typically call a Planet their home for the entirety of their service. These planets are all stocked with the full range of equipment and war machines available to the Astra Militarum hundreds of times over as their strategic value is critical to the Imperium’s continued survival. These Solar Cohorts are theoretically self sufficient, however due to the nature of the threats they encounter, working in harmony with thousands of other Solar Cohorts is all but guaranteed upon invasion. Once a threat has been identified, Castellans are capable of fully deploying within half an hour due to their training and specialized deployment technologies developed by the Mechanicum.

Each World is expected to supply its Solar Cohorts with the specific types of weapons, armor, and vehicles as described in the Codex Astra Militarum to at least the current set of minimum specifications issued by the Adeptus Militarum. Many older Solar Cohorts will also have tied to Forge Worlds near their point of origin and will be supplemented with more advanced equipment and war machines by the Mechanicum.

Legiones Astartes

The Legiones Astartes is made up of highly skilled, genetically enhanced warriors who are responsible for responding to Chaos Eldar threats and continuing the Webway Crusade as a means to disrupt Chaos Eldar plots. The majority of these soldiers spend the majority of their service traveling from battlefield to battlefield, only having down time between the stars.

Each Astartes Legion is based around a Legion Sector, which are centered around the Legion Homeworlds, and work in close contact with the Diviners of the Adeptus Psykana to react to Chaos Eldar threats across the galaxy. There are times when the Chaos Eldar themselves have not yet decided they will invade an Imperial System and a Legion Response Force will be en-route.

Each Astartes Legion is supplied all of their equipment and war machines by the dozens of Forge Worlds in the systems surrounding their Legion Homeworld. Officially designated as Legion Forges, these Forge Worlds were planned and designed to be capable of mass producing some of the most advanced technology the Imperium has available to it. Each Legion Forge is responsible for supplying the Imperial Astartes with everything they might need.

The oldest and most capable Legion Forges are known as Alpha Legion Forges, and were created during the first centuries of the Great Crusade to supply the Emperor’s Legions. Important for more than just their Forge-Fane output, Alpha Legion Forges hold the exclusive right to the secrets to the creation of Legion specific wargear that has been used since the time of the Interex Coalition War.

Hey everyone, sorry for my longer that usual absence. I’ve been hard at work brainstorming and writing in my free time, and you’ll be seeing the results soon. The reason I’ve taken longer than normal to post, is due to working on two chapters at the same time. You’ll be getting them as a double post, so I hope that makes up for it.

The first post is going to be about the time period known as “The Reforging” and the second post is another codex-like entry on Imperial Space Stations.

If there is anything you guys want to know more about, feel free to make a request, and I’ll do my best to make a chapter about it, give my thoughts if it’s something smaller, or let you know it’s a secret.

The Space Station post is a request chapter, and I’m happy to get my first request.

Have a good day everyone!
