I only played orks once in 8th and my colleague never played any 40k, but since he asked me for advice for his army list I got quite scared, because he plans to bring 2 Keepers of Secrets to a 1200 points Beginner game (he plays a pure Slaanesh Daemons list). While I am not a try hard for winning, I want to give him at leats a bloody nose. Any help is appriciated. Closet Skeleton Posted September 30, 2021 Share Posted September 30, 2021 (edited) He's all assault and very fast so the trukk boys and kommando rush aren't going to be very useful. So you can just throw the gretchin and trukk up front to control the board with maybe the small kommando squad (keep the big one back to support your other charging units) and ensure you're getting a turn of shooting. Since its his first game his movement phase will be weak so you shouldn't have any trouble getting two turns to soften him up with the bikes, kans and squig buggy before the non-speed bump combats start. Even 10 sluggas will still be taking off the odd daemonette who will still be wounding on 5s. Blood Axes are a bad match up for Slaanesh, otherwise Orks have a massive advantage from being T5 and having a much newer book. if you want to be mean switch to deathskulls, if you just want to tweak it but keep to theme put a burner in those commandos. If you're really worried about monsters just find somewhere to put in the tank busters. I also hope that his movement phase will be poor and that he won't notice the mission objectives. I wasn't so sure if I should use the Gretchin for speed bumps or grabbing objectives/doing actions. After I saw his list, I also noticed that Blood Axes are a bad match up. As this is just a beginners game and not a crusade or tournament game, I do not see a big problem (except the color scheme) of using another Clan. Blood Axes are cunnin' enough to adapt to any situation Unfortunately, I can only take a Burna if there are 10 Kommandos in the unit. The bigger unit already has one. I thought about adding a whole unit of burnas. but they won't survive long enough to make good of their points. Or should I put them onto the Trukk and do some drive by? Are Tank Bustas better then Lootas in this situation? Deffguns have a longer range. Or is the continuous Dmg 3 better? Daemons are a low staying power army, they have to do damage on early turns to win. If they kill your good stuff before turn 3 having grots to stay on objectives is too late.
