Battle Plan

 

Centre: Gravis Marshal, Veteran Intercessors, Redemptors, Chaplain

 

Marshal is a very tough nut to crack - T5, 8W, native 6+++, always fights first, and treats all weapons as Damage 1. Crucial re-rolls for the Redemptor Plasma.

 

The Intercessors will have 5+++ (Divine Protection), and will get to shoot plenty of dakka before engaging in combat when they will have plenty of attacks, which Chaplain will buff to auto-wound on hit rolls of 6 (Fervent Acclamation granting Suffer Not). Redemptors have lots of nasty dakka and combat capability also. And the whole thrust will re-roll 1s to hit and wound via Dreadnought strat.

 

Plenty of anti-psyker defence in this central thrust. Chaplain can Deny, and does so with +1. Veteran Intercessors have a -2 to enemy Psychic test bubble within 12" and causes Perils on any double (Skull, Light of Grace) and for one turn can cause -3 to Psychic tests within 12!

 

 

Backline: Heavy Intercessors

 

Not too much to say, just that these will be tougher to shift with a 5++.

 

 

Independent: Assault Intercessors

 

Two bully units that can seize objectives. Thunder Hammer diversifies their threat.

 

 

Fire & Forget: Sword Brethren in Impulsor

 

The Impulsor is a fairly capable weapons platform now in its own right, with the Bellicatos Missiles, Multi Melta, and Storm Bolters. Plus it's fast.

 

The Sword Brethren will nominate the biggest, nastiest enemy threat for the Seal of Sigismund (re-rolls to hit and wound in combat) and make full steam for it. I suspect this will get enemy attention but the unit itself is not that expensive! And they can benefit from cover on the way in as they ignore the passion. Four Sword Brothers with chainswords for maximising attacks, one Sword Brother is a Champion of the Feast with master-crafted Hammer for capable anti-armour. 

 

 

Carnifex: Executioner carrying Aggressors

 

A big, scary distraction carnifex in the form of a Repulsor Executioner carrying Aggressors. Will operate independently and again a balanced array of weapons/tools.

Looks nice, templars steem like a solid mech option now. Maybe change the thunderhammer on the assault intercessor sarge to the fist of balthus, you get an extra AP and no to hit penalty. Also I think the assault sarge is the best option for champion of the feast (5 attacks on the charge with ws2+ with the relic power fist, fighting twice, let's go!).

I like the repulsor, however, changing it to 2 impulsors with Multi meltas seems more effective, and change the captain to the relic shield captain with sword of judgement and oathkeeper,keeping your guys relatively safe.

Just some thoughts. But I would like to know how it plays what you have!

Central ranged castle consisting of Hellblasters, Eradicators, and Redemptors backed up by Marshal & Castellan for juicy re-rolls. Marshal and Castellan are both beatsticks in their own right and able to fend off assaults. 

 

Sword Brethren and Judiciar move forward to be a problem, Chaplain can zip over for re-rolls and extra attack (and Obsec!). 

 

Outriders can zip onto objective w/ Chaplain (Rites of War), and deploy Holy Orb wherever needed.

Rites is not needed. ObSec Strat exists.

Its depressing but heavy plasma ks worth than Assault Plasma (albeit have to overcharge). Through personally drop 1 squad. Take 2 Heavy Varianrs Erads w/ MMelta. They do 11-12 damage even if they move.

Third squad can keep /shrug

Don’t like outriders, 3 man squad sad vs anti tank and one model die = dead char. Through I say this and run generic sm bikers (NB if you have bikers recommend fervant because cruise missileing is fun)

SBros should outflank or be very sad as every gun will target them.

Redemptors solid.

I really don’t like Justicar. You an Orb. I’d rather get 3 more SBros.

Incursors are fine.

 

Intercessors well. Okay you have your castle. Now a few things. Firstborn saders w/ Neo & GravCannon more durable and shoot better. Random aside. Now then. I’d move Judgement to SBros.

HeavyHellies are….mediocre and not best AT. 165 for av 4 (6 if overcharging) damage. Its not the worse. Just not good. For 5 points more tou can ger 3 man fusil infil Elims similar output but can also meme with instigators.

 

But other thing for similar points 206 you can appreciably similar output to a your intercessor squads from crusaders. And actually afford a couple more dudes if you wanted too.

Scheme of Maneuver

 

The three Crusader squads hold objectives and lay down anti-infantry fire. All big and tough with Obsec.

 

The Terminators are troubleshooters. Can fit anywhere in the plan and operate fairly independently thanks to native re-rolling wounds on the Termies. And the SB is pretty capable.

 

The headline is the huge central thrust. 10 Sword Brethren re-rolling all hits, 1s to wound, and being buffed to oblivion. Judiciar ensures Assault Doctrine for them as I will hold Tactical to turn 3 for the bolters, and ensures all the characters & SB can have a go before any opponents. Three Redemptors enjoy 5++/6+++ and re-rolls of 1 to hit and wound with their shooting, any enemy armour that survives this will face their Redemptor Fists.

Can't help but tinker with this further. I think Termies are inefficient because of their innate Invul, and Sword Brethren are nice but big bases and their cost mean I think actually regular Crusaders are a better recipient of Helbrecht buff.

Two shooty Crusader squads hold objectives.

 

Choppy Crusader squad advances with the three HQs and three Redemptors in support, nasty big blob of goodness.

 

Centurions and Apothecary can form a second thrust for a pincer movement, very durable thanks to the Sergeant having 5 Wounds and tanking AP-1 and AP-2 as AP0 with his 2+ save. And if he dies, the Apothecary can get him back up. If Grimaldus loses his 6+++ minion then the Apothecary can come across as needed to revive/provide the 6+++ himself.

Revising the above. Five Centurions too many eggs in one basket. 

 

Reduce Centurions to three, saving 150pts. This is spent on a Whirlwind with vengeance launcher (135) and Holy Orb for the choppy crusaders (15).

 

This means I can turn off overwatch and cause a big gribbly to fight last.

Very strong firebase with 3 Redemptors and 5 Inceptors, re-rolling 1s to hit and wound. All with 6+++. Sword Brethren at S6, durable with 5+++, plenty of attacks.

 

At the appropriate point, the SBs and Helbrecht can charge in and leave behind Grimaldus, the Inceptors, and Dreads. One of the Dreads can pop the strat to ensure re-rolling 1s to hit so fewer Overcharge mishaps.
