In fact, a Necron player may be inclined to especially do so, since the charge phase is distinct and separate from the fight phase, so preventing a wound from getting through would be very important if he was on, say, four wounds left. No. The nightbringer does not have native invul rerolls, and I can't think of a way to give save rerolls without spending a CP reroll. If you ever play him again, I'd ask him to show you the rule that lets him do that, and if he can't, insist that he cannot reroll his invulnerable saves without spending a command point. A plasma blaster shot slipped through and finished off the Star God.
