How the Despoiler Stole Christmas

It is the Emperor’s own naming day and even though His name is lost time, your forces have been marshalling resources for a raucous holiday celebration.  All seems in order; there are minimal attacks and few explosions can be heard.  It seems even the insurgents have decided today is a day of rest and celebration.

…Until the Despoiler shows up to steal all the presents.  No one knows how he got here or where his ship might be, but he is stealing presents and you have to stop him, whilst there is still a celebration to save.  Worse, the insurgents seem to have the same idea and now everyone is in a mad drive to steal back presents.

Mission Rules

The Despoiler

In each player’s Command Phase, roll a d6.  Replace the corresponding objective with the Despoiler.  The despoiler will remain here until the end of the turn.  Whilst the Despoiler is replacing an objective, that objective is not considered to be on the table.  If there are any units within 1” of The Despoiler, move them out of the way by the shortest distance so they are 1” away from The Despoiler.  The Despoiler will remain in place of this objective until the end of the turn.  When the Despoiler is placed on the battlefield, he uses the profile below, except that he only has 3 wounds.  In close combat, the Despoiler always attacks after all other eligible units have been chosen to attack.  When attacking a unit, the opposing player determines which weapon he will use.

Primary Objectives

At the end of each player’s Command phase, the player whose turn it is scores 5 victory points for each of the following conditions they satisfy to a maximum of 15 victory points.

  • They control one objective marker
  • They control two objectives markers
  • They control more objective markers than their opponent currently controls.

Secondary Objectives

In this mission, the secondary objectives are set.  They are as follows:

Open Presents (End Game Objective)

Open Presents (Action): One unit from your army can start to perform this action at the end of your Movement phase.  A unit can start this action if there are enemy units within range of the same objective, though that unit’s side must currently control it.  This action is completed at the end of your turn.  If this action is successfully completed, roll for that unit on the table below; that unit will have the resulting upgrade for the rest of the mission.  In addition, you gain 5 victory points each time you perform this action.  A unit can have any number of upgrades in this way.

Portents of Celebration

You must take the Engage On All Fronts Secondary Objective.

Stop The Despoiler (Ongoing Objective)

Each time your army destroys the Despoiler, you gain 5 victory points.
