=] The 12 Months of Hobby 2022 [=

Kudos to everyone who completed models this year, and massive thanks to @Grotsmasha for running it. I know I haven’t participated properly this year, but I have done a little painting. I just didn’t want to pledge until I completed my last outstanding vow: here he is, one Heresy Blood Angel veteran (pledged in October or November 2021?)

My final vow for 2022 is complete. Thanks @Grotsmasha for running it again. I'll be pledging again for next year. I'll get a group shot up at some point over the next couple of days. 

 

As promised, my December completions are 1 Spartan, 1 Legion Fellblade, 1 Landraider Explorator, 3 Legion Medusas, 1 Sicaran, 1 Sicaran Venator, 2 Rhinos, a Castellum Stronghold and Grub Targeson (in a pear tree)

So is it tally time?

I actually managed to paint up more than I thought in 2022!

Just put them all together and took a picture, and wow, this is indeed a ton of models. And there I was, thinking I did not accomplish much in 2022.

I certainly made some progress with painting up my Night Lords army and I certainly enjoyed painting the Kill Teams of the "Into the Dark" set.

Plus I painted some terrain (I did not put out all of the terrain, especially all the dozens of little boxes, this is just representative).

It certainly helped me getting this much done- especially for someone with ADHD doing these monthly pledges certainly helps to focus.

This is everything I painted in 2022. Thanks to Grot for what is most certainly an administrative pain in the butt, but I can definitely say this is more done in 12 months than any other year I've had in the hobby.

Since i only complete Half my pledge which is for 40k and not the 30k im i qualified for the badge or i have to settle the 30k first. I notice there are alot of badges :) . As for the stubborn vow i will have to do it in Jan 2023 ?

@Torin Yep, completing just 1x model counts the month as "Completed", and if you complete 5+ models, you will also qualify for the "Seriously" Badge too. To earn the "Stubborn" Badge in January, you will need to pledge them to the 2023 thread

Here's my total painting output for 2022. I'm well aware that for some people here this would represent a fairly normal month, so it's kinda underwhelming in that sense. But I'm happy with the results, and I feel like I've managed to maintain a certain level of finish (base, shade, layer, highlight) across everything I've done, which hopefully gives them all a degree of cohesion as a force.

 

 

 

A total of 22 infantry and a transport.

 

Hopefully 2023 will see an uptick in output - I've stockpiled a few ebay purchases over the year, and if I can get it all done (possible, perhaps not likely), then my Cult will be pretty much done and dusted painting-wise. We'll see what happens.

 

Grot - thanks, as ever, for running the challenge. It's fun to feel like part of something, and great to see what everyone else is getting up to over the year. So I appreciate your efforts.

For a grand total of 171 Models (A hell of a lot more then I thought, but not as many as I had hoped or as others have done).  I am not going to work out points but I imagine its somewhere around the 4 to 5k point.

 

I notice a spread over mostly two to three of my 9 or so armies, with only the Grots being done for my Orks and nothing for my Tyranids.  I had one bad month where I only got 5 Chosen done but then blew things away with the last two months.

 

All in all I am happy with what I have achieved, although I only got the Aegis Line done for my plodding along.  I set the goal at the start of the year to get a Seriously award every month, to try for a Speed Demon every month and to get a few Artificers and hopefully a Favourite.  Well I got the Seriously as hoped and got far more Artificers then I thought. I fell down on the Speed Demons and, compared to the quality most of you guys were putting out, I had no hope of a Favourite.  Still going back through the thread today I am just blown away by the quantity and, more importantly, the quality of the models you guys and girls create and even more importantly the community spirit here in the thread.

 

So thank you all for letting me be a part of this journey for 2022, especially to my man @Grotsmasha for being the amazing host of this event for another year.  I am looking forward to blowing this years effort out of the park in 2023...
