Getting into Apocalypse...

Hi fellow Frater,

I know that Apocalypse from last edition has not been a well supported system and is not that popular. But being a bit fed up with the amount of rules bloat and lethality in modern 40k, a friend and I are liking the streamlined and activation-based approach in the Apocalypse rules. So we will give this a try instead of more 40k.

We will likely have our first match in the coming two weeks. Anything that we should be particularly aware of before we start?

And do the rules work for 40k-sized armies as well, from your experience?

Any hints or recommendations would be appreciated.

Thank you for the input. What do you mean by card draw? Is there a way to influence this other than having more character commanders of detachments? What is a good amount of cards drawn per turn?

We had our first Apocalypse test game today and really liked it. No Gotcha-or Combohammer, but solid mechanics that allowed for smooth gameplay.

We left out the cards for our first game (agreed on no psykers beforehand, since these would need the cards) and will add them in for our next match.
