I have to say, I’ve been sucked into the black hole that is JoyToy lately and I’m quite impressed with the quality compared to their initial offerings. I had grabbed the Black Legion Terminators when they were first released and they were… underwhelming in my opinion. They fall apart easily, the details are lacking… just not great.

I decided to give them another chance with their Death Guard line and man… night and day. The quality is significantly improved, the details are much better, and the paint apps… while not perfect… are still quite nice. I’ve got the entire line so far with Mortarion and the Lord of Virulance pre-ordered (though initial in-hand photos of the LoV see to be underwhelming), and Ive started a small collection of Alpha Legion as well. Still hoping we’ll see regular Plague Marines and 30K Death Guard soon!

I have one of the Black Legion Terminators and whilst I thought he was alright, he definitely suffered a bit as an action figure. Also his head keeps falling off! They have definitely improved a lot, though I wish they would walk back the slight scale creep a bit. The newer Terminators have better proportions but are ungodly huge to the point I'm contemplating getting an older one for my boys in blue just so he's not inexplicably Xbox-tier gargantuan (those who know will know...).

I'm not sure if I'll get any more Ultramarines, I have a full Detolf compartment of them (and a Sister of Battle and Silence respectively). Might get one more, but going forward I think I wanna get more Chaos Marines. I would get more Tyranids but I feel like they're done with those.

Yeah, the scale thing is weird. They went way out of scale depending on the generation of Marines, completely ignored it for Space Marine 2, went back to “normal” for everything else but the Terminators… mind you, I do believe that Deathshroud and Blightlords should dwarf Astartes, but Indomitus Terminators are generally only a head taller.

As far as other Chaos factions… I’m tempted by Angron, but if I got him I know I’d go full sperg and have to get all of the Berserkers as well. As it is, I’m trying to go very small with the Alpha Legion and thus far have only ordered Alpharius and some Mk VI Tacticals. I do hate how they insist on using plastic / rubber cloaks and capes, for the price it should be fabric.

I'm torn on fabric cloaks, they're more posing friendly (especially if wired) but I find unless it's a VERY fine weave fabrics can look extremely overscale on toys smaller than 1/6, whereas the soft plastic ones look more a part of the overall figure.

I wish the Havocs weren't so expensive now, I want the heavy bolter one but he goes for silly money these days.
