MadEdric
I’ve tried mine with the Fire Sabre and Mark of the Incomparable Hunter. D6 S7 web shots, plus inflicting MW on a wound roll of 6 for both shooting and assault. Paladin777
The fact that both the star glaive and scorpion chainsword use the force shield bit has led me to wonder if the scorpion chainsword is actually better against any target. Unfortunately for the chainsword, after doing the math the only target that I've found that it's actually better against is T4/1W/6+ or worse save. There being no chainsword relics isn't doing it any favors either... So ultimately the Star Glaive is the running away laughing favorite. Too bad too. It would have been nice for there to not have been a 'right' answer. I’ve tried mine with the Fire Sabre and Mark of the Incomparable Hunter. Karhedron
I like Starglaive, Fusion gun and Walker of Many Paths. Does not roll as many dice as some of the other options but the dice it does roll hit hard and WOMP helps make sure they hit home. I normally run a Warp Jump Generator and Mandiblasters because that is how mine is modelled. Mandiblasters actually work better with something that kicks out more attacks so if I were building it again I would probably go for a Banshee Mask for shutting down Overwatch. I prefer WJG over wings because of the tricks such as 2D6 Battle Focus. I realise there is a chance of suffering a MW but it is only on a double-1 which I think is worth the risk. It makes him very fast and flexible so I can redeploy if he needs to help out in a particular spot. Current setup is with a WJG and Banshee mask. She embodies the Banshees and Spiders. Plague _Lord
While I like the Idea of a WJG, fusion gun and Walker of many paths in an Ulthwé army so he get's the innate reroll to wounds and can then reroll the damage. You could even use a command point on rerolling the hit if you have to. He seems like a nice nuisance unit but I wouldn't expect amazing things from him and a second farseer just seems better for buffing and adding extra damage to psychic storm... also 120pts seems a lot for a charachter that is neither a melee blender or a tank. Karhedron
It is true he is neither a blender nor a tank but he is a decent support character who can deal decent damage at range or up close in an emergency. Given that many Eldar units are mono-loadout (Aspect Warriors and Wraithguard in particular), having a Character who can cover weak spots is handy. Love fielding Scorpions but hate Tau overwatch? Have an Autarch with Banshee mask lead the charge. Love Warp Spider shenanigans but hate heavy armour? An extra Fusion gun jumping about can be handy in a pinch. Love fielding short-ranged Wraithguard but hate getting charged? An Autarch with Starglaive to HI will make the enemy think twice before charging in anything less than melee specialists to try and bog them down. In an army of specialists, the Autarch is a consummate jack-of-all-trade.
