madlibrarian
Well, the new arrival has been an absolute blessing for my wife and I - truly an invigorating and exhausting breath of fresh air ha. I have managed to squeeze in a bit of hobby time when the little one has been asleep, so see below, and let me know what you think! Terminator Squad Sphazus Although far less often used, Indomitus terminator armour was still a valued and appreciated commodity among the lower echelons of the IVth legion's assault teams. With improved defences over that of standard power armour, and with the ability to enable the wielder to field more advanced and esoteric weaponry, it was a boon that was not commonly frowned upon... except by those who considered themselves truly elite. Sphazus was an immovable object. A blunt force used to soak up withering storms of fire and advance into the thick of the fray, driving the enemy back through sheer durability and willpower, before the inevitable hammer came down upon their heads. This particular terminator squad were all original Olympians, and thus bore a remarkably overt resentment towards their Primarch. Not much is known about them after their initial assaults during the Siege of Terra. Many amongst the IVth legion had thought them loyalists in all but their toll upon the enemy, so brazen was their contempt of their Primarch after what he did to their homeworld. There's much speculation that elements of this squad, if not the whole squad itself, actually returned to the fold of the loyalist cause, and survived the heresy. With their Olympian heraldry and ornamentation often being remarked upon as being similar to that of the 41st millennium's Minotaurs chapter... Suppression Squad Katapnixus "Keep them pinned! If any of those whore-sons raise their heads again, I want it gone!" screamed Krixus over the overwhelming onslaught his men were laying upon the loyalist defenders. Round after round shattered and cracked plascrete and tilled soil, throwing it into the air. Amongst the scattered earth and static material however, was lethal and imprecise shrapnel - a delicacy of the Iron Warriors that ensured compliance of their foes. "Secondary units, encircle and advance!" Krixus directed. He was an accomplished tactician in his own right, and well respected by his peers. He had never sought the higher stations or wanted the affections of his superiors, so much as he had simply wanted to demonstrate his unimpeachable superiority over his foes and his fellow astartes. The attack was a simple and calculated maneouvre - keep the enemy's heads down, and come at them from the sides. It would have worked. It should have worked. As ever though, the fates had a wicked sense of humour. For no sooner had Krixus issued the order, then a stray atomic had landed in the clearing between the two forces. Unverified reports state that the entire grid co-ordinate was glassed upon arrival of reinforcements. An indomitus terminator squad for Horus Heresy, meant to be a strong wall upon which the enemy can flounder for a turn or two (or to soak up a primarch). And a shrapnel bolter armed tactical squad with drum magazines for flavour. Hope you enjoy guys - a scorpius and a contemptor / venerable dreadnought hybrid are in the works at the moment. Also, that new warsmith eh? Great model, although I think the hammer is a bit too big. Dr_Ruminahui
Those guys look great! That's some mighty fine hazard striping on the helmets. That said, your last 2 photos seem to be repeats - did you have a different photo intended for the final one? My only quibble is the red trim on the terminator champion's shield - it doesn't really go well with your colour scheme and the regular white trim is much more effective and attractive. If you still want to designate the squad leader, perhaps yellow might work better? Not saying you should repaint the model, but if you try something similar in the future, something to keep in mind. Oooh that’s a good shout! I’ll do that actually, work up from the red to orange to a good yellow. Appreciate the feedback! and the second photo was added in error, whenever I delete it in edits it won’t remove ? Not sure what’s going on Edited December 7, 2024 by madlibrarian Dr_Ruminahui and Tallarn Commander 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/373784-the-iron-enclave/page/3/#findComment-6079626 Share on other sites
madlibrarian
A Menial’s Musings Long before he’d ever thought himself destined to sail the stars, Pontus had always had a knack for fixing things and keeping them running. He’d spent many evenings fixing the chem-wells on his home planet, weeks repairing the family gyro-carrier, and months building a home for his partner. After the IVth legion had dragged him away, he often thought of home and his beloved, wondering how she was, where she was, and if that blasted curr Meandros had weaselled his way into her affections. He thought this as he scraped off another piece of pulped human flesh from the inner tracks of the scorpius tank he worked on. What was it this time, a thumb, a squashed ear, or some unseemly and abhorrently deformed toe? It mattered not, as he diligently cleaned the whole vehicle to something resembling parade readiness. He didn’t really know what was going on outside the ship anymore. He’d heard rumours of a ‘warmaster’ who sought to bring enlightenment to humanity and throw off some shackles or something. Truth be told, Pontus wasn’t too bothered either way. He doubted much would change for him whoever was in charge. It’s not like they’d help him get rid of Meandros… Combat Simulator - Epsilon Beta Gamma 66 - Test Subject 7 The immense impact of a dreadnought being pile-drived into bulkhead doors cannot be understated. It is a thing of beauty. To see the vast steadfastness of the mighty machine be flung with such contemptuous ease was a profoundly unusual and intriguing sight. Well, it would’ve been had it not been the 7th such iteration of manned combat training dreadnoughts that had suffered such a brutish fate. Perturabo desired real training, and this was as good a method as any. Live weapons, real chain blades and chem-addled marines barely holding onto their sanity inside. It was perfect. Except for the clean up afterwards. That part was distinctly less enjoyable. Dr_Ruminahui
Those look great! Particularly liking the mix of colours and great use of decals on the rhino. madlibrarian 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/373784-the-iron-enclave/page/3/#findComment-6099584 Share on other sites
Tallarn Commander
Outstanding models. And the write ups are quite evocative. madlibrarian 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/373784-the-iron-enclave/page/3/#findComment-6099595 Share on other sites
