Thank you both! Nekrah was a really nice pallette cleanser after painting so many Ghouls for my Flesh Eater Courts, some neat edges to highlight was what my brain needed

Although the Defiler was very daunting to start as I've got some sort of compulsion to highlight everything neatly but the red is almost done and the black has been started, the big guy is really starting to take shape:

I'm determined to get this big lad done now, I've procrastinated and painted up the remaining models in my backlog of Flesh Eater Courts and Gondor armies (yay Hobby Aims for 2024!). It's time to get him fully completed!

The Red armour and Black armour are now both totally done. I need to do details like lenses, daemonic faces, glows and the birds:

Finally! The big guy is done

This was a bit of a procrastination nightmare, every time I set it in front of me to paint I'd be like "well I could just paint a couple of layers on some LoTR models since they're nice and easy". I got there in the end and I'm really glad I did. I love the model and the paintjob is excellent (IMO), the edge highlights and the amount of edges were really quite overwhleming at times

 

My Heavy Support is starting to fill out a little (plus the Pred and Sicarian, they just don't fit in the lightbox)

 

It's always cool to paint more Ultramarines too!

 

Next up, I'd like to get the Chosen done, there's 5 sat on my "painting desk" (dining room table) with the red basecoat done. I'd also like to get the NuTerminators done too, they've been calling my name forever

ha... look at those (not) ultramarines getting smashed by that Defiler! Great job. I cant bring myself to paint anymore defilers, even though my IW would love one.

I have parts of another one that I'm seriously considering trying to make another Defiler although heavily kitbashed this time. Maybe when I've got more of the army painted

Thanks Guardian! I had the idea for something like this but mechanical:

 

Using the Defiler Chasis and a lot of work to get the legs right with the proportions, essentially having the battle cannon held like a rifle then maybe having a scourge and claw above that. Currently unsure how I'd do that or if I could even pull that off but it's in my head at least

 

The next 5 chosen are up, they're currently in that horrible stage of "Oh God, I've totally this up"

 

Messy basecoats and washes are messy, just got to trust in the process

Chosen are coming along well, the red is looking good and so are the poses! Depending on if you could find it one of the knight paladin/crusader cannon arms might be a good start for that, not sure if it would be too big though.

The Tyrant's Fist, Tyrant's Huscarls and the Tyrant himself. I think he might like being a Tyrant 

 

They're done! And I'm extremely pleased, they're defintiely a centrepiece unit when flying out of the Landraider!

I think Knight stuff might a bit too big for what I'm aiming for I think, some of the Armiger/Wardog bits could work I think. If not some plasticard tube will do the trick!

They came out great, don't know why but the banner bearer is my favorite. Probably because I am a sucker for a good banner. The group shot with Huron is great!

Thank you both! They're a really cool centrepiece unit I think and quite a lot of work to get finished, glad they look good!

 

My local FLGS is starting up a Crusade campaign and with my time now massively freed up (we unfortunately had to take our rescue dog back, she was lovely but starting biting and had so many underlying issues we couldn't care for anymore, anywho), so I'm planning on bringing the Corsairs!

 

My starting Roster is looking like:

 

Ivar the Red Wolf (Chaos Lord -Thunder Hammer and Plasma Pistol)

Pyromancer Nalek (Chaos Sorcerer - Force Staff)

 

Thralla's Bombadiers (5 Chaos Space Marines, Bolters, Icon, Missile Launcher) + Rhino

Horagrar's Wolf-pack (10 Chaos Space Marines, Bolt Pistols and Chainswords, Icon, 2x Heavy Accursed Weapons) + Rhino

 

Vekh's Outriders (3 Bikers, Powerfist, 2x Melta, Chainswords, Icon)

Rosk's Reivers (5 Raptors, Melta, Powerfist)

Mimetidae (Venomcrawler)

Vulture (Predator Destructor)

 

A good mix of Speed, Firepower and shooting I think! I'm going for a Hit and Run, Hounds of Huron kind of force so lots of speed and infantry being in Transports or being fast enough to keep up. I think I'll be keeping Huron out of it for this Campaign, let my no-names do the work!

 

Speaking of speed and keeping up, I've started work on the Felgor. I absolutely love these models:

 

Still loads to do and I'm sure they're going to be a guff unit but I can't not add these to the army, they're so rad!

Thanks gaurdian! I've not played with the Corsairs since about October last year so I need to get some practice in!

 

I got an army shot set up for the Crusade force, it's pretty cool to see them all set up together!

 

All I need to do is paint 2 marines (missile launcher and Icon) and the Rhino and the Army is ready to rock

 

The Felgor are getting there too, just details and a couple tidy ups to do:

Man those felgor are nice! I really like the one with red horns.  Crusade should be fun with those units.

Thank you both! The Felgor are easily my favourite Killteam and I've had such a blast painting them, their rules leave a bit to be desired but their time will come

I need to finish the bases off but the wash was taking ages to dry so I just took photos as they were. I've also just realised that I've missed a couple of their nose rings 

I'm really happy with this unit and I kind of want to paint more of them! When GW refresh the Beastmen range for AoS, I'm actually sunk

 

For now though I've got some models to paint to finish off my Crusade Roster in the form of a Missile launcher marine, an Icon marine and a Rhino. These Felgor will be part of my first wave of reinforcements for the Roster, for sure!

They're not there yet but the Rhino and the 2 reinforcement marines for the Crusade force are getting there. The Red is popping and we're past the "Oh god, I've ruined it stage"
