Warhammer Plus new & future animations recap

I had a look around and couldn't find a specific thread to discuss and speculate on future animation.

Future Animation:

—Astartes 2—

It feels like Syama Pedersen has completed Astartes 2 judging by his Instagram, and he is still posting about Warhammer stuff, so I think that is a good sign that working for GW and Warhammer officially was a Positive experience for him. At the very least he still genuinely loves and enjoys Warhammer.

I think Astartes 2 will most likely drop some time after August and be used as a hook to get people to subscribe for the second year. Hopefully we will be seeing it before christmas.

There are two other shows that I think the community has been sleeping on a bit. Altar of Wrath and Iron Within. They look visually amazing

—Altar of Wrath—

"After a grinding war of attrition, the last Black Templars of a Crusade seek to strike a final, decisive blow against the Necrons to end the battle for good."

And:

—Iron within—

"When beleaguered Astra Militarum forces face annihilation, they must turn to salvation from a most unlikely source. Is the enemy of your enemy really your friend?"

If they can get hold of a talented animator or a good mocap suit then they have a lot of potential honestly. Maybe nearing the quality of Astartes. Having the Warhammer Storyforge Professional writing team and Voice acting team behind these projects is also a huge help for CGI fan animators which usually struggle a lot in that regard.

—Black Talon—

"A notorious hunter is unleashed to slay Sigmar’s most grievous foes – but the secrets of Neave Blacktalon’s past follow wherever she treads, even beyond death."

Haven't seen much about this, but looks interesting, perhaps more anime like than other shows

Broken Lance, Pariah Nexus, and High Lords we have seen pretty much nothing for so it's hard to really speculate on any of them. Hopefully we will see something of them around August, as well as some new shows announced.

—Broken lance—

"Towering war machines stride the battlefield in a drama that sees the survivors of a once-noble house of Imperial Knights facing the sins of their predecessors."

Has the potential to be good since knights are always fun. Just got to hope the animation team is up to the task.

Honestly even if its just epic Mecha battle porn with a slapped on crap story that would be :cuss:ing great.

—High Lords—

"Politics and treachery abound in the Imperial Palace. For ten thousand years, the High Lords have governed the Imperium in the Emperor’s stead. Such power brings corruption, intrigue, and danger to all who would grasp it."

No idea. Sounds talking heavy so perhaps less action orientated and more like game of throne's political intrigue?

—Pariah Nexus—

"Explore silence and death in the darkest corners of the galaxy. As the Indomitus Crusade reaches the Pariah Nexus, strength and faith will be tested to the limit."

I actually think we might have seen something of this one, but it isn't labelled as being Pariah Nexus so it could be something else.

The first image is perhaps Pariah Nexus, and maybe the second? They were captured from the animation preview trailer which showed a second long shot of each. I would say they are from Altar of Wrath as that also features Necrons, but the style is a bit different.

If they do drop a trailer around August for W+ year 2 it will be cool to see if we get to see more and if there are new shows being developed.

Thanks for the reminders about what is supposedly in the pipeline- I had forgotten all about High Lords... I really want to see that one. And sisters should play quite a role in Pariah Nexus.

I wish that one of the upcoming models was an Inquisitorial Interrogator.

Maybe not happening anymore due to GW 's Russia politics?

Yeah, that did cross my mind.

I hope the animation does happen still.

We do actually have one other example of a Russian company GW is working with. The Rogue Trader game being made by Owl Cat Studios is a Moscow based company... But from what I understand the entire Owl Cat studios company has moved out of Russia. I don't know if that was directly due to GW policy or some other reason though. They might already have been moving out of the country before things went south as they want to become an international company.

I don't know if GW would make an exception for the Altar of Wrath team, but it isn't out of the realm of possibility they could just move down to Georgia like a lot of Russian youtubers and young professionals have done and work on the project there. The money would probably be worth it.

They did say some time ago that they would be ramping up the number of animations as part of the big feedback they got on Warhammer Plus.

As part of that, they said there would be new animations, at least every 2 weeks. At the time most of us didnt think that was an especially impressive turnout at all, but that was the promise.

So...its now been 3 weeks since the last episode of Interrogator and this week also nothing. Just pointing out that they are not keeping up with one of the very few promises they even openly made.

I think they might have chosen to do that on purpose so that the last 3 episodes of Interrogator are bunched closer together. There's 30 days-ish until the 25th of august which is the end of year one of W+ They could have done bi-weekly with that no problem in the last 30 days with 3 episodes left. So maybe the reason they didn't is so that nearer the end of august there will be one episode, and then the next week another episode?

Kinda bleh they went back on their "animation episode every other week" thing still, even if they bunch it up later.

I don't mind if the episodes are a bit shorter, but next year it would be nice if we could get closer to weekly releases. It makes it so that it's something you can discuss every weekend with hobbyist friends like an episode of a tv show on HBO or whatever.

There are also a heap of new animations coming up – Stormcast adventures in Blacktalon, the stalwart Knights of Broken Lance, more Hammer and Bolter, and far-future fear in Pariah Nexus.
