Captain Idaho Posted July 20, 2022 Share Posted July 20, 2022 (edited) I've never really posted up pics of my models but I've got no excuse now I'm actually getting fairly good at it plus the B&C is rocking with its new software etc. So little something about myself... I'm a long term Ultramarines player, since before some of you may have been born (sadly!) As I'm 38 and been playing Ultramarines since I was about 10. That's not a boast but reflection of my age in context of the post Over the years ive painted 2 previous Ultramarines forces - 2nd edition which I'm not even sure I have anymore even in the attic and a 3rd-7th edition force that has been sold off steadily. I bought into Betrayal at Calth heavily and wish I bought one more box as I'm running low on MK4 Marines. It's basically a Horus Heresy and 40K army, with a few exceptions like Centurions. Anyway, as I've developed my painting skills over the past year I decided to repaint the army bit by bit but focus on new stuff first. So starting with tonight's WIP, here is my Paragon of War Space Marine Captain. Almost finished, just needs transfers, basing and maybe a touch up here and there: Excuse the poor photography, I'm terribly average at that skill. But yeah I'm fairly happy with how he turned out. The highlights are there but hard to make out sometimes from the photos. Note I'm quite proud of the conversion work on the stored Storm Bolter/Vengeance of Ultramar. I'm not a great photographer I'm afraid so the highlights aren't coming out clearly but I'm really pleased with the models. Note the Terminators were victims of exploding model syndrome when dropped, therefore some arms were warped and just didn't back together correctly. I did almost cry... Group shot: Terminators... Keep the fire alive, brother! Great models. Can't wait to see your Kratos. Also, I had thought I knew every classic marine model, but I have never seen that chaplain. Captain Idaho Posted August 14, 2022 Author Share Posted August 14, 2022 Thanks! It's Macragge Blue undercoat, with regal blue layered over the top (old school regal blue!). I then use old school Ultramarines blue for an edge and drybrush highlight. I then top that off with a tiny bit of white as a very light touch drybrush highlight of notable, prominent areas. It does need photos taken in a more usual light than the super bright sun (even though that was the shaded part of the garden!) as it isn't quite that bright in real life and you couldn't make out the rather cool highlights. The Kratos just looks amazing. And all the weapons rotate etc! Fun! Note I also have an interchangeable Multi-melta for the top hatch, but have added the Havoc Launcher just because it looks great, like an old Mammoth tank from back in my RTS days... Amusing anecdote... ran out of Macragge blue mid spray, as I was undercoating this and a Vindicator Laser Destroyer primed for painting. But they aren't flat and you can make out the forms so I guess the highlights have worked? Dreads and Captain above in addition. Tacticals (HH the specials and Plasma will be moved and supplemented to full squad etc): Chapter Champion: Apothecary: Terminator Chaplain: Cataphractii Terminator squad: ***** I'm terrible at taking pictures! Lighting etc doesn't show up the highlighting I've done but never mind eh. Oh forgot to take pictures of my finished Kratos! We were a little rushed with my mate's wife trying to get the kids ready for school tomorrow etc. I'll see about getting army pics in natural light in future eh. Army is getting a good size in painted and completed to the standard I wanted. I'm not the fan of my older efforts so I've got more to bring up to spec.
