Just so I have this clear for the next bit - the team are going through the front, then breaking off to circle around the main slaughter, er engagement, and re-entering bastion 3 via bastion 2's ductworks?

If Scourge wants to stay with the frontal assault that's fine, as everyone is heading to bastion 3 anyway.

Solid Snake if Solid Snake were built like an Astartes-pattern ceramite outhouse.

Elsewhere...

WHUNK WHUNK WHUNK WHUNK

<A ceramite boot punches through the ductwork before being noisily withdrawn>

"By the Throne!... Blasted duct rats are getting big! Where's that useless layabout Johnson?! Johnson! Johnson, go see about that awful racket in the air ducts, would you? Yes I mean now! On the double, man! I swear, these new recruits don't seem to care about maintaining appearances... And don't forget the rat poison!"

Actually, I got it wrong, it's not Burt Gummer, it's more like Victorian expeditions.

"Smithers, can we saddle that rat?"

"No sir."

"Best get me the 4-Gauge stopping rifle then."

Speaking of Victorian expeditions, if you've never read The Man-Eaters of Tsavo, by John Henry Patterson, it's an amazing read, full of Victorian-era dispassion towards terrible hardships and is a rather great snapshot into the goings-on of the Empire in the late 1800s, and I highly recommend it.

The general plan was to have a big distraction draw the golems forces to defend bastion 3 while a force hit the now lightly defended bastion 2 and switched over as high up as possible to try and get behind the worst of it. Optional side quest to cut power or otherwise disrupt the golems ability to track the attack.

If it's ducting then it sounds like a bit of a split for the more towering/conspicuous individuals.

That's what I thought.

Difficult, since it means sabotaging the Strategium, (just clearing it isn't going to work, as it will just get flooded with drones again) but not impossible.

Indeed, hence  Orp , er. Cephas. I forgot Scourge was wearing his man-corset. Feel free to continue plotting or breaking up the task into sub-tasks. I will prepare individual random encounters to add to everyone's narrative to keep things spicy, but narratives should generally follow this format:

  • Describe or make reference to the opening assault
  • Depict the team breaking off (if it does)
  • Describe taking tunnels, (remember that narrative is a few seconds only, it will take a few posts by each player (maybe about three) to get to the 'staging position' as you work tyour way through Bastion 2.
  • You should make your posts narratively coherent, eg:
    • Restal (1/3) He ran to the grate...etc
    • Restal (2/3) He climbed through the vent...etc
    • Restal (3/3) He finally overlooked the target...etc
  • Don't just blurb it all into one post. The team should work together, asking questions, responding, telling a cohesive narrative.
  • Scourge's will be different. Heat up your dice, son.
  • Reynard and Bardas will interact normally with me.

This a chance to let you boys flex your creative muscles a bit - and off the leash, allowing me to drop in challenges where appropriate in between the narrative posts. As mentioned in the IC, you'll need Tests to inform it, for shooting, placing bombs etc (for the latter you can just use grenades, but make an evaluate test - Pass or Fail, doesn't matter, as I will collate the results and advise success at the end).

The final posts should all have you reach Bastion 3, close to the Panopticon (in a vent, overlooking, etc. Feel free to have this from different angles depending on your chosen sub-tasks, you wouldn't all be looking from the same vent, for example).

Does that all make sense?

Before I write a new post, I feel like we have already had some description of the interior of the Voivode, but I can't find it...

Does it have any medical facilities to check Gwynne's condition? (I think there were bunks, do any of them double as a medbay?)

Then Reynard will go check on Cutter and see what is what.

I can't remember if any of the bays doubles as a medical facility TBH, but one of the better bunk quarters could be used. There would be emergency medical supplies, in the rear hold, but it wouldn't be anything like a 'crash' cart.

You can go ahead and let Cutter direct you. It's fairly cramped back there, since the living quarters soak up a lot of the room, then there's stowage, and on top of that, a Space Marine Bike. The front loading bay is where most of the room and crash couches are.

EDIT: Found the post. No, no medical bay.

@Mazer Rackham - So Cutter is alive, that is good to know.

How much fun did you have with that backronym?

Bardas as a 1 Anti-Rad (from the resupply on the Voidvane in preparation for entering the Gladius Wreck, as we did not venture to any radiation drenched areas in the wreck it went unused).  I assume the Rad Hypo is akin to this. Kindly remind me, do these need to be use pre-emptively?

Cutter is a PC, killing him offscreen without Player discussion is a big no-no in my book.

Lots.

Spoiler

Wait until you get to the Auxiliary Node Universal Support portal.

Yes, as it will boost your test by +20 for one-hour, I think.
