[DH1e] The Damocles Contingency (OOC)

The thought pops into my head, if this vent is big enough and presumably reaches all the way to the exterior of the Hive, could the Voivode (or a Valkyrie/aircar) be flown down it to our position?

Just trying to think about an escape route if things go pear-shaped...

Somehow I think it will take longer than thirty seconds to get out of the nuclear vents.

It is actually an iron law of fiction that it takes precisely as long for the protagonist to escape a corridor/passage/duct/tunnel/etc as necessary to allow them to heroically, and with great style, leap/fly/ride/surf/etc. to safety from an enormous fireball heralding the demise of the villain, all for the benefit of the audience at home. Things like air/fuel mixture, fluid dynamics, narrowness of channel, etc. are mere terms for nerds with physics degrees to fret over the hows, the wheres and the whys, while we, the discerning consumers of quality entertainment, know that no story can truly come to a satisfactory denouement without the villain being incinerated/blasted to smithereens/brutally dismembered/etc. and our intrepid and stalwart hero riding into the sunset with a pillar of flammable material reaching to the heavens behind him as a giant middle finger to Evil(TM) everywhere.
