Veterans

I love veteran squads. I've made one custom for every narrative campaign that i've played in.

I'm toying with making another, with a chimera as i've got a fun idea for a veteran look on one. The last vets squad was tooled for range and popped up with a Platoon Commander from reserves, lascannon and plasma loadout. This next one will have meltas and a heavy flamer.

Now - rifleman loadout - for the life of me I can't think of a reason to ever give them shotguns. Rapid 1 is better in everything but advance and shoot (hoping to get that 6" S4 shooting).

Why would one ever take shotguns? Fallback and shoot? Advance and shoot? Outside of that the lasgun is superior.

Autoguns though.. haha (I've also just remembered I chose the Veteran BLAM profile picture, with a shotgun.)

Rule of cool trumps everything, im certainly going to build a unit with shotguns

Veterans with shotguns, while cool are prbably not the most efficient use of the unit (but somestimes cool is all you want)

I have been running Kasrkin as veterans but in my new list I created over the weekend the Kasrkin will represent Scions and my veterans will be played by shook troopers all with back packs from the heavy weapons teams and berets heads (painted as para troopers) from the Scions models.

So this is the last squad I made, and the WYSIWYG Sgt (as my list didn't take the bolter) - he needs a squad!

 

Rule of cool takes precedent. I'll start on the squad soon (they're 4th on the list)

@hardcore1six they look great. I think half the appeal of veterans is that they open up so many opportunities for customisation and really making a unit your own
