I've wanted to do a Night lords warband for the longest time and had just been waiting for a new Chaos Codex to drop. Then Heresy 2.0 was announced and I knew i wanted to use the new MK6 models as a base for units I could use in a 40k army and a small 30k army.

The over all idea is still in its early stages but here is what lore I've started on.

Company/Warband Emblem

The Night Lords 56th company, known as the “Midnight Court”, functioned as a vanguard force during the early stages of the Crusade. Their preferred tactic was infiltrating enemy lines under the dead of night. Whereafter they target members of the planet’s ruling class in an attempt to destabilise the enemy’s chain of command. These members would be captured and their tortures and executions broadcasted over the planet’s communications networks. Under the confusion and outrage caused by these killings, the rest of the Night Lords' compliance force would attack.

Sergeant Marek Kel of 6th Claw. I've magnetized his Lightning Claw and Chainglaive.

Some really excellent work here - background, painting and photography.

I’d love to see some WIP of the greenstuff/milliput flayed skin and the severed hands. You’ve nailed the look of the Night Lords. I’m looking forward to seeing more.

Thank you. The skin is just made using green stuff. Mix it, let it cure for a few minutes then stretch and tear som pieces and shape them to the models. The severed hand is actually from one of the dark eldar kits my brother had laying around.

Also was able to build 5 of the first members of a CC terrorsquad/legionnaries squad using some tortuga bay bodies and the unmade warcry kit.

hoping to find the time to paint the rest of the tactical squad and start the terror squad in the coming days.

Lovely models given unique and characterful appearances with your greenstuf skills, it truly does make them look sinister as is fitting for the lords of the night. Your paint job is a really vivid dark blue, and your photography skills are also quite nice! The photos ooze atmosphere.

Love your work - the bright blue really makes them pop and the reserved use of red helps prevent them from looking cartoony.  Also great usage of greenstuff for the flayed skin - you've gotten it to fold and drape in a way that seems quite realistic, which is much harder than it looks.

My sole nitpick is in relation to their unit symbols, in that there should be a triangle of blue between the scale bed and the 2 chains on either side - see for the symbol on my knight.

Update time.

I finished off the Terror Squad. Will eventually build 5 more, but wanted to start some other units to fill out a small 500pts warband for a crusade campaign. Still playing around with how to paint flayed skin. Ive tired add some purple to simulate brusning. I don't know if that would be realistic that is but I think it adds some interest.

I see them as members of a Nostraman Death cult, where they paint their arms black to differentiate themselves from the other units.

First Raptor Squad is done. Saw lots of people use purple instead of red for the accent color, so i wanted to give that a try.

1rst Talon, Huntmaster Ilya Vahdrak, the Shattered Blade.

Once a promising sword-master, he often boasted that he could match Sevatar in combat. The first Captain would eventually grant Ilya the opportunity to prove himself and while putting up a good fight, the duel would end with Sevatar cutting off both of Ilya’s hands. He then commanded that he was to always carry his severed hands with him as a reminder of his arrogance.

Next on the work table is a Contemptor, Exalted Champion/centurian Preator and a squad of Terminators.

Awesome detailing and love the story you put together for the Huntsmaster duelist and the hands he carries!  It’s the small stuff like that which makes folks’ collections so neat to look through - great job!

I also have a preator/exalted champion that I build before christmas but have not gotten around to painting him yet. Might still make some small tweaks to him.
