Dealing with votann

Recommended Posts

Take secondaries that don't require Actions; that turns off one of triggers for accruing Judgment Tokens.

Beams can only land additional hits of units they could have ordinarily targeted, so MSU units capable of hiding behind LOS blocking terrain can help there.

They get AoC as part of Void Armor means you should use either very high-AP weapons or zero-AP weapons.

LoV will change the meta in a big way. For example big stuff like TSK won’t be able to survive due to their Judgement tokens. I think we will typically see two land fortress carrying Berserks along with a big squad of their terminator equivalent armed with the ranged Volkite weapon which can produce a lot of MW. Offensively countering them melee seems to be a good way to go as overall the faction is slow. Terrain will be a huge factor so you can hide your units from their deadly guns.

Wondering how much of a linchpin their characters end up as, would that start to bring back sniper spam or smash captains/equivalent assassination units?

Kharls are a high priority target eliminating them will reduce the enemys ability to token you to death to this end:

Vindicare assasins are decent at killing the Kharls they can do it in one shot but 2 is more likely they are hard for the Votan to deal with and on average can bag both by the end of turn 3 while soaking up the tokens on a unit they struggle to pick out.

With double kill and PTN they can run almost CP neutral as well.

Flyers that use their movement to make the Kharl the closest target and remove him can also work but points wise its a poor trade.

This might be a no brainer but watch out of units with ion weapons they can for 1 cp generate 5 mortal wounds ez not to mention they are damage 2.

Don't fight serks in melee unless you are willing to loose your unit auto cannons are the best thing against these guys.

Hey all, I wanted to start a thread on peoples ideas and thoughts on how we as marine players can handle the “imperium wishes it had these” votaan. I don’t honestly know how to deal with them.

While durable and well equipped, Votann don't have buckets of attacks. If you can hit them hard enough on the charge, their return attacks should be too few to inflict many casualties in return. Look for abilities that give -1 to-Hit in melee as that will further hurt their limited dice pool.

their units can fight back when they die... at least the close combat ones. And If you have killed them you have a TOKEN on your unit which says - you are dead. So MSU armies can hurt them - but forget our Crusadersquads, forget our Dreads.

It's honestly would be an interesting stance from the community if they where mass banned. It would be a good way to get the design team to get its act together.

And although the tournament community is a small part. Its still one all people recognize it because they play much more and are "louder".

As I know, "Limm" ( one of the German TO´s ) had a call from GW,... but I dont know what they have spoken about.
