My early testing didnt bode well for Judges in melee just because a lot of the targets i was after were fearless or stubborn so could react at will, live in the field though, elite units work really hard to avoid getting near Oblivion characters, meaning the best targets go back to being the heavy support squads the Judge was previously preventing return fire (and the range boost wards off small arms and the like) from on my shootier squads and the like, who usually arent stubborn or fearless.

I think the best thing to do is probably either go barebones, or build flexibly so you can move the Judge to whatever squad is best based on opponents.
