Rogal Dorn - Auric Armour & wounds

Rogal Dorn’s Auric Armour special rule:

“No attack may wound Rogal Dorn on better than a 4+ regardless of its Strength or special rules.”

Having just gone back and looked again, I think I’ve been reading that wrong and playing it as the equivalent of Transhuman - so any wound roll of 1, 2 or 3 fails.

RAW, does that actually mean that any wound roll of 4, 5 & 6 fails? In effect, a reverse Transhuman, if you will? If that’s true, because he’s T6, does that mean he can only be wounded by S7 and up weapons?

A 3+ To Wound roll is better than a 4+, that is what the rule is referencung by speaking of wounding Dorn on a better roll than a 4+. RAW your initial assumption is the correct one, because the opposite reading makes no sense within the context of the rules and their semantics.

Put it this way: a roll of 5 is a higher roll than one of 4 but it is not automatically a better one as that is heavily context dependant. The greater the disparity between strength and toughness are, the better a required To Wound roll becomes as you can roll lower and still wound, since you do not need to roll as high in order to wound when compared to a situation where the difference between strength and toughness stat are not as high. This is a roundabout way of saying that a To Wound roll of 2+ is far better than one of 5+. Yet even if you somehow had a strength stat high enough to wound Dorn on a 2+, the auric armour effectively reduces it to a To Wound roll of 4+ as no lower - i.e. better - roll can harm him.

The only way the second assumption could be considered RAW is if the player in question had no concept of how wounding and rolling for it works in the game.

As above, 2+ to wound is better than 4+ to wound, however Dorn's armour forbids that, so the best you can do is wound on a 4+. So at T6, S6 and below weapons are unaffected, however that essentially caps the strength at 6, as he can never be wounded on better than a 4+ regardess of strength.
