Weaponwise? Gauntlets, without a doubt.

Maulgryns went up in price by 5 points and the only thing they gained is -1 dmg.

Gauntgryns stayed the same price, gained -1 dmg, +1 Strength, +6" range and AP1 .

S7 AP1 D2 (Mauls) isn't scary at all in the current meta (considering they went up in price, the Maul should've stayed +2Str so they where S8 at the very least)  while a squad of Bullgryns each firing of D6 S4 AP1 shots at 18" range (Gauntlets) is pretty decent and allows them to be a bit proactive. - and they still got 4 S6 attacks in close combat which, while not amazing, is enough to deal with plenty of targets that might want to tie up your infantry and/or vehicles.

Shieldwise? It depends.
In general I'd say Bruteshields for the 4++ is best (2+ without AoC isn't amazing currently, too much AP everywhere), but if you have stuff like an Aegis Defense Line for that -1 AP or a Primaris Psyker giving them a 5++, then I can see the appeal of Slabshields.

Bulls will be more durable, but I think it’s important to remember ogryns will be doing roughly the same in melee as gauntlet bullgryns while being able to shoot i ln melee
