Swapping the Forward plates between Spartan and Proteus

Has anyone tried swapping the Proteus Explorator front plate with the Spartan's extended ramp?

 

I have two conversions I am planning and I'm hoping it will be a simple matter of swapping parts between the two kits.

 

I want to make a Spartan with the flat armored front plate from the Proteus kit.  I'm planning a Proto-Terminus Ultra conversion for my Ultramarines and wanted to use the longer hull of the Spartan.

 

At the same time I am hoping to put the extended front ramp assembly from the spartan onto the Proteus' hull to copy this silly conversion from back in the day.

The plastic spartan hull is wider than the pastic proteus hull. So would likely need some serious platicard work to achieve.
