Great aren't they! Only taking me 20 plus years to get around to painting them!

Hah, I'm in a similarly fashioned boat with some of my Space Marines, I just don't have this level of veterancy. 20 years, just wow. Good luck with these OOP guys. Old models are - as some say - clearly inferior to today's sculpts but I like to believe that they have a certain vintage charm or maybe a soul that the newer designs are lacking. Maybe that's to do with the human factor, old model being hand-sculpted and whatnot.

My model for April is finished - a new, old Emperor's Champion joins the ranks of the Neurode Crusade, now with a base ;)

I really can't get over how badly this mini has aged... I love the helmet and the shoulder pad with the cross but the rest, wow...

I love that mini, came out our around when I first started to really get into painting models.

I got it from a store employee for playing against him. He's been part of my force for the last 20 years and only been repainted once.

if you stay tuned, I've got some old striking scorpions and warp spiders coming up in the queue! The scorpions are going to be next month's pledge!

Ooh nice. I have a plan to convert some scorpions. Sadly I don't have any of the old sculpts.

I finished my vow for April!

Here they are, in all their glory, some bloodthirsty villains for my sadistic space-pirates.

I think I actually like the Legionnaire who stole Sicarius' old armor the best. He just looks as if he way too much fun at what he is doing

I have also started on a Necron Tomb Spyder and hope I can finish it in the remaining week of April

And just to show how big this banner is... Here is Ancient Learchus of the 4th :).large.20230425_000136.jpg.1643090c318b0bf07c9f9ea311c61d9c.jpg

Nothing more new for me this month I have a few bits I need to do for my friend.

But I will start next month with Dante :).

Welp its been interesting.  For a month that was going to be difficult it got more difficult with arrival of my overdue Tomb Spyder and quite a few other issues and the like.  I have finished the Bladeguard bar bases so I will get them up shortly.  So on that note I shall vow my next trick, the Tomb Spyder:

I am unsure I will get the ten warriors and the terrain done this month but hopefully will get back on top of things in the near future.

Gave Brother Nathan's 2hr Paint Challenge a go,

Real life got in the way. I really hope that I can finish this model by end of this week.

Since he is yet to be forgiven by the Lion, I have to paint his armour black.

I, Sviar, embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of April pledge to complete Cypher the Fallen Angel by month's end.

I declare my April vow completed. It was fun to finally paint them up. I really like the moment when a whole squad is finished and you see them all together in front of you. Gives me some tingling in the belly

So here they are and also the whole squad together:

@Rhavien I really like these new (?) BA Terminator sculpts. Great paintwork, too. It's a small thing but I really like the old FW Terminator Honours. It's a really silly/nerdy thing but I've always loved these shoulder pads. Seeing it brings back memories of the olden times when I wished I could afford FW stuff for my Templars. A pity they discontinued much of the old stuff, particularly the chapter-specific venerable dreadnoughts.

@Brother Christopher Thank you for your kind words! Four of them are bodies from the space marine heros series 2 with LCs from the BA terminator kit. The fifth with all the chains wrapped around him is a sculpt from space hulk. I salvaged the shoulder pads from some of my old termies which I never managed to paint up. I've learned it's really hard to aquire terminator honor pads. Because of this one of them is now a Deathwatch Veteran
