A good basis or start again - forgotten Waaaagh!

After having a rummage in the loft pile of shame (yes a second pile of shame!), I discovered a box of Orks that i could have sworn I sold.

 

Anyway, after having a look through it all, I decided it was worth asking here to see if I have a good basis for an Ork army, or should i sell it?

Some of it is from the Assault on Black Reach set.

 

Here's what i have:

 

Ork Warboss with power klaw (AOBR)
5 Nobs with sluggas and CCWs (AOBR)
20 boys with slugga, CCWs, 2x big shootas (AOBR)
3 Deffcoptas (AOBR) plus bits for an extra 1 maybe 2

 

16 plastic Boyz on sprue (the box before the went down to 10)

5 Stormboyz - assembled and undercoated

5 Nobz - half painted

5 Kommandos (finecast) - Undercoated

Gretchin and Runtherd  - assembled and unpainted

Ork Trukk - assembled and unpainted

 

Metal Kaptin Badrukk and ammo grotz - unpainted

Metal Ghaz (second one - stripped)

1 metal Nob in Mega Armour

 

What do you think? The AoBR boyz look a bit dated now, but the Nobz are ok.

 

Should I sell it, or rescue it?

Everything there looks solid to me. I say rescue.

All of those models are still in fashion, so to speak. The Nobs and grots and boyz are all still around, and the Black Reach stuff has its own value as limited edition sculpts you can’t get anymore. 
 

The good thing about Orks is quantity over quality, and that’s not just for tactics. I had a buddy once simply throw all his Orks into a Tupperware bin, and bring them to games like that. And you know what? They were all perfectly fine, and it was all so Orky that I think every ork army should be transported that way lol. 
 

The way prices are now, that’s a really good start to an ork force. Fix and paint em up, add a couple buggy’s or a Trukk and they won’t do you wrong.
