They did exactly what I wanted them to do. If you love Firstborn, these are for you. If you love Primaris, these are for you. Primaris can wear the classic relics of the Chapter, as they should as Space Marines.

Primaris? "First Born"?

"They are either, or both."

The battle is over? Interesting development.

Interesting indeed. Good way for GW to sell models to people who only collect Primaris or Classic Marines lol

But this is a good move. They can all be Primaris, or - if you want to play games set prior to the Primaris - they can be Firstborn.

I do like that GW is moving away from the Primaris vs Firstborn differentiation.

I am super bummed out to see those Indomitus Termies (the best Termies) are 40k specific, meaning to make them 30k compliant you need to do a lot filing to get rid of the crux terminatus.

That was always the case and if the shoulder pad is removable, no worries. The bigger issue is their size. They are bigger than a Primaris and those are already massive in comparison to 30k Marines. Using them in 30k will look super weird and disproportionate.

Those models are absolute fire, really excellent.

Also, no mention of the "Hellfire" Brutalis? I giggled when i saw that in the video. Straight up Dawn of War vibes and so friggin cool :)

Also, all the combi, melta, flamer and plasma guns interspersed within what looked like intercessor and phobos squads seems like maybe they can all be "Tactical" squads now??

I figured the fact that GW has come out and said imdomitus terminators can be firstborn of marines and or Primaris would have squashed the whole “firstborn are being dropped.” The reality (or lack there of) some of our fellow hobbyist continue to subscribe to is blowing my mind…

I know no one here has mentioned it yet, but this proves several things:

-Gravis armor is not meant to replace terminators.

-Firstborn are still going to be around.

If anything, to me this means we’re going to see non-Primaris models a permanent part of the game going forward.

Or the keyword goes away for everyone, and there may not be any more 1 for 1 updates of traditionally firstborn units.

not saying this is how it will be, but just a possibility.

well... they just so happen to be releasing quite a lot of non-primaris that I imagine people will want to run in 40k too
can't pump out a whole bunch of plastic land raiders and rhino chassis's and yank it from 40k

It's a new all-flamer squad, with Fire Support markings, a Primaris Sternguard squad, and what's probably a new Phobos Lieutenant or specialist, with the latter two having combi-weapons. I don't see any sign of mixed squads.

I’m sorry, but what are you smoking that has you stuck on this idea? We have just been giving proof of a brand new “firstborn” kit that the naysayers claimed would never happen again. I don’t think key words going away is relevant to the argument at all. That whole theory was proven to be flat out wrong. Done! End of story…

You mean the kit that was stated to be piloted by Primaris?

Folks are too funny… Maybe the Mods really are just going to have to lock down any pro-specific Marine template BS here.  Some people just won’t quit even when shown something by the company making the models.  People that supported one side were ticked off in other threads about keyword removal, now they are trying to tout it as a benefit that supports their personal view on it, etc.  Ridiculous.
