How many Playable Characters each Traitor Legion has in current Tabletop?

Recommended Posts

Not talking about side games like Blackstone Fortress

Wondering how many and which characters can be played on Tabletop for each Traitor Legion

I find it odd that some Traitor Legions don't even have Playable Characters

EDIT: Hopefully GW/BL would either turn Novel characters (Decimus or Lokk) into Tabletop or create original ones so that each Traitor Legion has several (at least 8) Special Characters

If you take away the Black Legion and four marked Legions, you get arguably 2: Fabius Bile and Huron Blackheart. Yes I know Fabius is an EC but he operates more as a renegade. With the 5 exclusions you have:

-Three primarchs (Fulgrim one day)

-Four classic champions (Lucius, Khârn, Ahriman, and  Typhus)

-Lord Invocatus

-Harken Worldclaimer

-Abbadon

Maybe I'm missing a one or two, but that seems about it.

Cypher - Fallen (for now?)

Bile - EC/Unaligned

Mort - DG

Typhon - DG

Abaddon - BL

Haarken - BL (dead or no?)

Invocatus - WE (zzz)

Khârn - WE

Angron - WE

Magnus - TS

Ahriman - TS

I think thats it, in plastic?

Didn't the plastic named BL dude from BSF also get rules?

He's not counted. I stated that in the OP

Just those that can be played in normal Tabletop with GW rules in the current timeline

(Tycho doesn't count since he's dead)

So why would you not count him, exactly?

He has rules. He even has a Servants of the Abyss detachment.

He is a worse Chaos Lord that costs more points in game, only black legion and doesn't have the 'Traitoris Astartes' keyword, he's pointless :)

Does Vashtorr count?

Daemons don't count. Traitor Legion playable characters in the present timeline in the main game, not Blackstone

There's Huron Blackheart, if we promote Red Corsairs up to replace some of the Chaos Legions that were split out of Codex: Chaos Space Marines.

It would certainly be nice for them to promote at least one for each Chaos Legion that is missing one. I suspect Kor Phaeron may make his appearance at some point, as he has been fairly active in the current timeline, appearing in campaign series and novels (Psychic Awakening/Dawn of Fire).

Wait, Kor isn't playable in 40k/present time Tabletop? What about Erebus?

No, as I stated earlier, Word Bearers, Alpha Legion, Iron Warriors and Night Lords do not have any named characters as unique datasheets/miniatures in the 40k tabletop game. That is true, not hyperbole.

The exhausted list of all of them:

Red Corsairs

  • Huron Blackheart

Dark Angels/Fallen

  • Cypher

Creations of Bile (originates from Emperor's Children)

  • Fabius Bile

Emperor's Children

  • Lucius the Eternal

Iron Warriors - None

Night Lords - None

World Eaters

  • Lord Invocatus
  • Khârn the Betrayer
  • Angron

Death Guard

  • Typhus
  • Mortarion

Thousand Sons

  • Ahriman
  • Magnus the Red

Black Legion

  • Abaddon the Despoiler
  • Haarken Worldclaimer

Word Bearers - None

Alpha Legion - None

I feel each Traitor Legion (not Fallen or Red Corsairs) should each have four or five Special Characters

Each Loyalist geneseed line can have multiple characters (Dante and Seth for Sanginius while Helbretcht, Kantor, etc for Dorn) so to balance that out each Traitor Legion should have several Special characters

Each Traitor Legion should have several Special Characters that have one or more of the roles below:

1. Daemon Primarch or Daemon Prince. Huge tanks

2. Sorcerer. The best or most unique spell user

3. Vehicle Specialist. A buffed version of a vehicle unit

4. Duelist. Great at 1 vs 1

5. Unit Specialist. Boost specific units

6. Special/Gimmick. This character has some unique gimmick that can change the battlefield

7. Commanders. Able to boost the stats of all units or those near him

Emperor's Children:

-Fulgrim. Daemon Primarch and Sorcerer

-Fabius Bile. Special

-Lucius the Eternal. Duelist

-Eidolon. Commander

-Doomrider. Daemon Prince and Vehicle Specialist

Iron Warriors:

-Perturabo. Daemon Primarch and Unit Specialist. He boost Obliterators and Artillery

-Barban Falk the Warsmith. Daemon Prince and Unit specialist who boost Obliterators

-Honsou the Herald. Commander and Duelist

Night Lords:

-Krieg Archebus the Axemaster. Daemon Prince and Unit Specialist, he boost Raptors and Warp Talons

-Zso Sahaal. Duelist

-Decimus. Sorcerer and Commander

World Eaters:

-Angron

-Khârn

-Lord Invocatus. Vehicle Specialist

-Kargos Bloodspitter. Unit Specialist, he boost Khorne Beserkers

Death Guard:

-Mortarion

-Typhus the Traveler. Duelist and Sorcerer

-Ignatius Gulgor. Daemon Prince and Sorcerer

-Vorx the Lord of Silence. Commander and Unit Specialist, boost Plague Marines

Thousand Sons:

-Magnus

-Ahriman the Exiled

-Sanakt the Swordsman. Duelist

Black Legion

-Abaddon the Despoiler

-Iskandar Khayon. Sorcerer and Duelist

-Haarkon Worldclaimer. Unit Specialist and Commander, boost Raptors and Warp Talons

-Dhar'leth. Daemon Prince that can Deep Strike (being a former Night Lord)

Word Bearers:

-Lorgar the Illuminator. Daemon Primarch, Commander and Unit Specialist. Boost Possessed

-Kor Phaeron. Commander and Sorcerer

-Erebus. Commander and Sorcerer

-Marduk. Commander, Sorcerer and Duelist

-Sol Tagron. Vehicle Specialist, Dreadnought. Revived by Lorgar after his death

Alpha Legion:

-Alpha. Duelist and Commander

-Beta. Sorcerer and Unit Specialist, boost

-Gamma. Vehicle Specialist, rides a Daemon-possessed Land Speeder

-Omega. Daemon Prince

-Chi/Xi. Special, he can imitate other Special characters

-Zeta. Special, acts as a extra-powerful Vindicare Sniper on the battlefield

To balance things out there should be new rules:

-A Traitor Legion player either can't use more than one SC or have to pay more points

-Maybe negative debuffs when deploying certain pair of SCs, especially when having multiple Traitor Legions in the field
