Forgive me if this is a little "the sky is falling but I noticed something.

On the GW Aus site, only Intercessors (Regular, Assault and Heavy) are listed under the filter "Battleline". Not Tactical or Assault Squads.

In the Tyranid Index cards, Warriors do not have the Battleline keyword.

Could this mean that you cannot use Firstborn for minimum Battleline units? Or that there may be a hard limit on them?

Just ignore, we should have the marine index tomorrow, just because the store website says something doesn't mean it is the truth :)

Can we get a Mod or Admin to sticky something to every thread that says "GW's Webstore is not Definitive for What Keywords are on What Units".

I feel like this question is being asked in every thread LOL

This isn't just "no longer available" meaning back next week in a new box and quite available for the foreseeable future (which honestly if that worries people then I have no issue with a new thread every time. "No Longer Available" should mean a product is being discontinued, not reboxed.)

There are already a bunch of units updated to come up under the Battleline filter, including Black Templar Primaris Crusaders, Space Wolves Grey Hunters and Blood Claws (Assault Intercessors don't come up under Battleline and Space Wolves).

That looks like a lot of thought was put into what Astartes units are and are not Battleline.

Termagants were missing battleline from their Leviathan datasheets and also missing from the site but now definitely have battleline in the Index. It might just be best to wait for tomorrow afternoon!

There is no minimum Battleline as far as I can tell. It is not like previous editions where you had a Troops tax. The only minimum army restriction I can find is that you must have at least 1 Character to be your Warlord. Apart from that, you are free to include or exclude units as you like. The maximum restrictions are no more than 6 of any individual Battleline unit and no more than 3 of any individual non-Battleline unit.

but as warriors are broken into two types, nothing stops you taking 3 melee and 3 ranged. Warriors are at least still OC2 across the board

Yep, and I imagine Centurions will be similar for marines.

Though there will remain reasons to take former troops units for the higher OC stat to capture/hold objectives, as well as their abilities which tend to be quite useful bread-and-butter functions so far. I think combined-arms armies will be much more prevalent this edition; though I suspect there will be a least 1 'leafblower' tank list that will need to be toned down some.

To begin with, I don’t think I’d ever rely on the GW store website to be a reliable source. They clearly didn’t get it right, it’s a work in progress, etc.

And hopefully I’m not saying what you already know, but the only minimum requirement is one character. The rest of the list is totally up to you, of course then beholden to the rule of 3 or 6 for battleline.

Edit:

Wow a ton of replies that weren’t there suddenly appeared so I’m a bit late with my reply somehow. :P

No?

He was just legends, which were and are not illegal. Just not touranment legal, which is totally different.

Legends is the dustbin of tabletop rules, until GW decides they get a new kit and codex slot. There is absolutely no reason the primaris company champ should legends, the firstborn one should be if GW was consistent in their SM range management.

He was Legends specifically because you could only get him at events. GW didn't want to add a model to the codex (and have to keep up with its rules/points) that the vast majority of players could never get a hold of. Seems like a legit reason to me.

That may change now since it was made-to-order. But I've got no problem with Legends anyway.

Isn't the Indomitus captain the bladeguard one with relic shield and power sword with a holstered pistol? How do we know it was plasma?

Never mind, I can't read, the Imperium magazine exclusive captain had that.
