"The team have been keen to make sure that ‘everything that was recognisable and well-loved was brought to the modern design’. All this talk of ‘classic silhouettes’ is making us feel something…"

Am I reading too much into this, or does this mean more upscaled classic kits are soon announced? I really hope that a new Land Raider kit for the new Terminators is coming soon.

Well there have been rumours about a Scouts vs Striking Scorpions box for Kill Team and if the Black Templar Neophytes are anything to go by new Scouts would look a lot like their previous incarnation so it could be them.

Is the Land Raider 20 years old? I seem to remember it coming out early 2000's.

The classic marine vehicles are all old I believe. However, I think going forward people will just pick up the HH variants instead which makes refreshing the non-HH ones seemingly pointless.

As lovely as the HH vehicles are, for me, the MKIII Land Raider and Mars pattern Rhino will always be king.

Yeah, would be nice for a plastic MkIIb to have a fleshed out land raider family. As for the Mars/Deimos Rhino, far too alike for me to really care

They used the exact same language when talking about designing Intercessors.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of the Space Marine range refreshed, now that the cat is out of the bag with both Terminators and Sternguard.

For the jump assault dudes like in Space Marine 2, I'm thinking that they're just straight up going to be new assault marines.

A new land raider would be odd, as it is already pretty big. It isn't like they can make it much bigger, or improve it really? It is already Repulsor sized, and for all intents and purposes, the Repulsor is the Primaris Land Raider (by that i mean the Repulsor was clearly intended as the Raider replacement chassis/hull for Primaris, just like the impulsor/gladiator chassis was the Primaris replacement for the rhino/predator chassis/hull etc).

Also, the Land Raider really doesnt look very dated either.

Not saying there might not be some replacement kits like we saw with the terminators, but i would be surprised if the Land Raider is one of them. I just can't think if what they would do with it, because the scale is still fine alongside the Primaris range.

Won’t be the land raider, they would have saved showing it’s rules for revealing it.

I guess you're right, I hadn't looked at it this way.

I think its scale is fine, but when a friend of mine built one for his Chaos Marines two years ago he was swearing a lot. It seemed to have a lot of big gaps, because the other parts wouldn't fit together properly, making the assembly quite frustrating. I wouldn't expect a scale change or any other big changes, but just a better kit. But I think Blindhamster is right, now that the stats are revealed, it's not looking good...

Yeah, the kit is old and the way it's cut to be put together is...not great. If you're not a thorough and experienced modeller, it's easy to make some mistakes with some bits (eg, the headlights) and mess them up. A new set of sprues of the same model would be all it needs.

They also may not show all the new kits in the profile on the index cards, especially if it comes out at the Codex.

Similarly, I wouldn't expect new datasheets that don't come out to the Codex to be in the index.

Also the Land Raider is pretty locked in because of the Dawn of War etc games.

I'm not sure about that, they showed us Heavy Intercessors and Gladiators long before they came out.

What if BGVs are already the VanVet replacement/successor? The problem with Jump VanVets was that they basically invalidated Assault Squads, Maybe the intention is that Primaris melee vets will keep their boots on the ground.

I think, that during 9th edition, Devastating Charge put Outriders in the Assault Marine design space rather than them being analogues for Bike Squads. Fast moving, a lot of attacks, not many (any in the specific case of Outriders) specialist weapons. As for VanVets versus Bladeguard, I think there is room because Bladeguard can be the defensive unit; just don't have Storm Shields as an option for VanVets. We already see something similar for Black Templar Sword Brethren; they've more weapon options, but are not as defensive as Bladeguard.

I'd disagree.  8th edition invalidated Assault Marines - the end of all the +1A stacks they had access to combined with fewer turns in combat vs shooting devalued close combat in general, and assault marines in particular.   For their cost towards the end of 9th I think they're actually potentially viable right now.

Additionally Mark X Vanguard Vets doesn't preclude and actually makes Mark X Assault Marines even easier.   Bladeguard are not Primaris Jump Marines because they don't jump.  Inceptors are not because they don't punch.  I'm amazed we've seen Primaris Shrike and Primaris Dante before we've seen a Primaris "bodyguard" for them.

for those saying marines wont get x for this edition... weve only seen for the leviathan box set. better believe they are saving a bunch for with the actual codex in autumn... same for nids...
