Fine cast is almost gone in 40k though, either by exiting the offending dstasheets or updates. From memory all that's left is basically 9 kits :

- ork weirdboy

- tau sniper drone handler

- inquisitor

- Sly malbo

- Pedro Kantor

- Ezekiel & Sammael

- the deceiver shard & lokhust destroyer lord

Hah! That face is hilarious.

I'll make it funnier for you - that's one of the official GW paintjobs: https://www.warhammer.com/en-GB/shop/Imperial-Guard-Catachan-Jungle-Fighters?queryID=beb487a8799681995554fca38846017c

Not just Catachans.  The entire Guard range (bar Krieg & Cadians) need a serious look at from the design team imho.  A new Pedro Kantor is also needed (by me, anyway ).

Not much in the range of left aside from catachans. I guess the russ and chimera hulls could be updated.

Well the Vostroyans aren't even available anymore- a shame as I rather like them. New ones would be nice though.

You just got a brand new model for Grotmas. Sure, it's a robot with the Red Gobbo inside... but it's a step in the right direction.

Don't forget Karandras. The Phoenix Lord so stealthy that he hid from the 10th edition refresh!

I was hoping he would turn up as on of the hero releases for the end of edition campaign but no sign of him so far.

Oldest kit currently in TAU lineup is piranha and sniper drones. But knowint GW they might update something like devilfish instead

Well that would be because the Devilfish/Hammerhead is the oldest Tau kit still in production: it was part of the initial launch of the entire faction back in 3rd edition, and predates the Piranha and Sniper Drone Team by about five years.

Fun fact: the Tau tanks are some of the few remaining non-digitally sculpted plastic kits still in production.
A White Dwarf article from 2001, when the release happened, shows how they were manually sculpted and then rescaled with a pantograph.
As the article said, it took over a year of work:

Its kinda crazy that the Destroyers and Destroyer Lord have still not been updated.

Especially as GW are just about to put out a new Destroyer big boss character.

Would now not be the time?

It would be great to see Lokhust show up, if they don't arrive with a Destroyer-led campaign entry I'll be curious to see where GW thinks that release should go.

There's a tin-foil hat wearing part of me that thinks community designers were a little too close to what GW had planned for the last green-rod using models in the line. There was a few -really good- Destroyer and Lord proxies made using the updated Heavy design when it was released. My hilariously untrue thought is that GW was too embarrassed to release what they designed and have had to push the release back due to IP-protectable redesign.

Man I love those concept Devilfish/Hammerhead designs. Would be very interested in some enterprising 3D modeller making printable kits based on them.

And man, pantograph work really is a dark art, isn't it?
