Cadmus Tyro
The defence of Kyro Extract: Battlefield debriefing report (ref45e0.009.27) Author Arch Centurion Carnac Commodus “My Lord, I regret to report that Kyro has fallen to the so called ‘loyalists’, it would appear the Minotaurs have joined their cause. The full might of the Chapter fell on the planet, showing no heed for the valuable mining infrastructure they rapidly overwhelmed the planetary ground to orbital defences through sustained orbital bombardment. Followed by a highly coordinated drop pod assault. The Auxilia garrison that survived this initial onslaught were put to the sword by the Astartes. I’m afraid our legion contingent was spread far too thinly to offer any substantial defence (reference report 45e0.009.12). My command contingent were able to exact vengeance upon the Minotaurs, however it was but a thorn in the side of our enemy and the toll on our forces was great, I alone survived to bring this report to you…..” Pict capture: displays contact between elements of the Minotaurs and astral claws chapters. Battle field conditions suggestive of high intensity orbital bombardment, effective at clearing fortifications and trenches of Auxiliary resistance. Spoiler Well, I’ve been hard at work building the first 500pts for a game last night. I’m a bit behind with WIP updates, but I will get round to posting the units in more detail! The game was a blast, lots of nostalgia using 6th edition rules and remembering how, when compared the HH setting, units have much less in the way of damage output. I was outgunned so the astral claws had to close the distance quickly. The iron hunters performed well, as did the retaliator squad which made so many 3+ and 6+ saves it was almost unbelievable. They were eventually gunned down by some cowardly sternguard veterans, but not before slaughtering a tactical squad and destroying a dreadnought. The Auxilia performed as expected, they died in droves but provided some nice ablative wounds for my HQ, you in return kept them in the fight with his higher leadership and stubborn. In the end the astral claws won by a single victory point for first blood. The relic objective remained uncontested. Carnac was the only surviving unit, with one wound he cowardly retreated after the auxiliaries eventually ran off the board without him….quite a fitting outcome really, objective victory but the moral victory went to the Minotaurs. Cadmus Tyro
File repository: Badab insurrection, Astral claws, excommunication traitoris. File title: Iron Hunters File type: pict capture Spoiler Spoiler Well, it’s been a while since the last post, but I’ve been working pretty hard on the project in the background. The 6th edition astral claws rules favour assault and give skilled rider to the bikers. So Iron hunters were a must have unit, although they aren’t particularly unique compared to their codex counterpart! I’m going for a subdued and subtle weathered look. I think the metallics work, sticking with Vallejo game air and adding a little blue to the black oil wash keeps a slightly different hue to the main armour colour. On reflection I will probably brighten the blue slightly on the pads for the next squad to get a little more definition around the black parts of the decals. Hope you like them! Naryn
Absolutely beautiful work, I love that weathered silver. The blue and the chapter badge really pop against it! Urauloth
Really stellar conversion work here, this must have been a ton of effort, especially getting such a convincing pre-Mk.X look out of the greaves. Poses look great, especially the swords. Really like the guy steering with both hands. Montuhotep
That is all. Extremely skilled (and patient) conversion work - so subtle that if you did not know the original mini's you wouldn't know they were converted. Cadmus Tyro
File type: pict capture File commentary: Images taken from the “defence of Kyro” display elements of the Tyrants Legion PDF force. Spoiler Spoiler Thanks for all the kind words everyone! Thought I would introduce you to the mortal component of the Tyrants Legion. I’ve really enjoyed putting these guys together and think they ooze character. They will probably double as a lasrifle section for my unification SA. Hence the heavier armour and hot shot lasguns. I quite like the dynamic the Auxilia bring to an astartes vs astartes battle. They achieve very little by themselves and need a lot of support, they evaporate to Bolter fire but they fulfill their roll of protecting astartes elements perfectly…..
