What is The Call to Arms, I hear you ask?

The Call to Arms is a new multi-forum event designed to celebrate the coming of Warhammer 40,000's new, 10th Edition, and encourage us all to start a new army, or bring our current armies into the new edition.

The Forums of the B&C are divided up into three Strongholds; Imperium, Chaos, and Xenos.  For the next three months the 8 Forums of the Xenos Stronghold will be competing to claim Victory over the other Xenos Forums, with all three Strongholds being compared at the conclusion of the Event.

There are two categories for Victory in both the Forums and Strongholds, the Forum/Stronghold who has painted the most points worth of models, and the Forum/Stronghold with the highest % of completion (Participants vs Completions).

Start Date: 1st July

End Date: 30th September

How do I join in?

Models for The Call to Arms have been allocated a point value based around their size, the time they take to paint, and the amount of effort generally taken to paint them, this is why some models of different sizes appear in the same categories, and why Characters are worth more.

The below list should cover every model for the Aeldari;

1pt    Guardians, Aspect Warriors, Wraith Guard/Blades

2pts   Jetbikes, Support Weapon,

3pts   Vyper, War Walker

4pts   Wraithlord, Star/Void weaver, Hornets

6pts   Crimson Hunter/ Hemlock Fighter, Falcon Chassis Grav-tanks

8pts   Scorpion, Cobra

10pts Wraithknight

5pts   Leader and Unit Composition: 1 OR Epic Hero, Autachs, Warlocks, Farseers

10pts Avatar of Khaine

20pts Revenant Titan

40pts Phantom Titan

Terrain

2pts   Aegis Defence Line Section, Aegis Defence Platform, Galvanic Servo-haulers, Thermic Plasma Conduit Section, Imperialis Ruins Wall Section, Zone Morialtis/Gallowdark Wall, Octarius Scrap Heap/Barricade

6pts   Fronteris Landing Pad, Mechanicus Forgeshine, Mechanicus Galvanic Magnavent

8pts   Fronteris Hab Bunker, Manufactorum Administratus,

10pts Zone Morialtis Gang Stronghold

Note: Custom/Scratchbuilt terrain- use this list as a guide as to how many points tour terrain is worth, but please make sure to mention your terrain is custom when Vowing.

All points are per model. For example if you pledge 20 Guardians (1ptx20), 3 Jetbikes (2ptsx3), a War Walker (3pts), and a Farseer (5pts), your vow would be worth 34pts

If you have any questions or queries, or there's a model you want to paint but isn't listed, just @Grotsmasha or @Triszin and we'll be more than happy to help you out.

Please feel free use this thread as a place to share your thoughts, ideas, and WIPs throughout the Event to motivate and inspire the Aeldari, and the Xenos to Victory!!!

Makes sense

Apparently the site gobbled up my second question, but no worries:

I'm planning on painting Amalyn Shadowguide from BSF too. In the past she's been a character for the codex, but doesn't seem to have a datasheet in the index - would she count as a ranger (1pt) or a character (5pt) for this contest?

Does the support platform in a guardian squad count as an infantry model (1pt) or a support weapon (2pt)?

I think I need to clarify better above, but there's two types of "Support Weapon" right? The little one that the crew stand beside in squads, and the bigger ride-on one?

The little one in the squad is 1pt for just the weapon, and 1pr each for the crew.

The big ride-on one is 2pts for the weapon, and 1pt each for the crew.

I might need some more Thousand Sons Blue

Have you done anything with the yncarne yet? Started to paint mine and it's fiddly has hell.

Nope, it'll definitely be the last thing I build and paint out of the Vow. I may try and kit bash it too and try fitting pitfighter vibe I have going with Yvraine and Visarch:biggrin:

Nice! We'll if it helps you can class it as a 'big un' I believe which means it can be completed separate to your vow.

If I've learned anything, it's to not leave assembly to the last minute. Every vow I've failed is because what I pledged to paint just didn't get built.

Definitely looking forward to to seeing the conversion though....

Work progresses. The aspect part of my vow is nearing completion and I have been prepping the Corsair vehicles. The Corsair windriders are ready for paint and the Yncarne has been started. Need to be more awake before I progress that!

One question - what about Repainting stuff?

I have a squad of Shining Spears, painted in an ugly red with some broken parts... It need a good/serous rescue paint job and I am thinking into a complete rework to get them redone to fit to a paint scheme more "traditionnaly" associated to them (well, blue and white).

The subtility is that one one stuff on one model will remain painted as it is currently (an eagle pet flying along the Exarch). So it would be a 90% repaint job approx. I can add pics to get it clearer if needed.

I would tend to think that a 100% repainting would be OK without problem (just spray it all over the model and its done); but in that case, how do you valorate it? Might it fit to the conditions (it is not too important as I WILL repaint them. It is just a matter of doing it now vs. latter....) even if this eagle pet remain as it is?

Thanks anyway

If it's one eagle on one mini, a repaint should be acceptable. Will they feature the same colour scheme, but painted better, or is it a completely new scheme? If its the former, then prior to vowing they (excl the eagle) will need to be returned to a single Base / Primer colour, if it's the later and it's a completely new / different scheme then pledging them as they are will be acceptable.

It is a complete repaint scheme, keeping the bird, but changing everything else from this:

... To GW White / Blue style.

Third Jet bike is close from the one on the left but even more dismembered
