I was thinking that, same as with choices of side sponsons. I can see the main gun of a Kratos having a particular rule but not sure on other, secondary weapons.

Since GW have moved to a "stats and rules on the datacard" model with AoS and 40K, perhaps there will be plenty of rules for things like Heavy Bolter or Lascannon sponsons compared to previous editions?

Seems a little frivolous and I would worry the game would get bogged down somewhat though. So maybe not.

Who else thinks the arvus will continue it's tradition of being worthless lol.

I don't know in other games, but in Epic games, transports are important and the Avus here seems to be the only transport option SA has, counterpart of the rhino, emphasising the differentiation of those 2 armies SA & SM.

There’s the Arvus lighter; the only thing missing from the list now is the Mechanicus Knights.

… and the writing seems to all but confirm the Rhino will be in a box of ten, which is great news. The text around the Kratos and superheavies only mentions formations, rather than boxes or packs, which makes me think they’ll still be in packs of two respectively.

I’d imagine upgrading Rhinos and stuff allows them to just engage different targets without being as granular as I’m firing three weapons.

Following the AI model:

2 Marauders = 2 SuperHeavies

4 Heavy Fighters = 4 Malcadors/Sicarans

6 Strike Fighters = 6 Leman Russ/Predators

Hope you'll excuse the (dreadfullyl vulgar) habit of quoting myself, but the appearance of a Baneblade in the corner here lends some credibility to the stats of the anonymous list (from this post here).

LITerrain Jul26 Game

It's from the latest preview on terrain: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2023/07/26/the-new-legions-imperialis-terrain-is-the-perfect-backdrop-for-an-epic-throwdown/

If this is genuine, then, looks like there's plenty of meat to chew over in terms of rules ahead of an official preview.

Going back over this list (since it seems to be everything at launch) here is a list of Missing units, excluding things like Consuls and Specialists:

-Terminator Command

-Destroyers

-Jump Destroyers

-Breachers

-Despoilers

-Recon Legionaries

-Seekers

-Jetbikes (mentioned by WarCom)

-Outriders (mentioned by WarCom)

-Land Speeders

-Javelins

-Sabres

-Drop Pods

-Spartans

-Land Raiders

-Typhons

-Cerberus

-Whirlwinds

-Fellblades/Glaives/Falchions

-Mastodons

-Stormbirds

I would bet we don’t see these for a while, maybe even until next year. They may be holding breachers and Land Raiders for a wave with the Fellblade chassis as ‘heavy metal’ reinforcement wave.

Would seekers or command terminators even be visually different from other power/terminator armour at this scale?

It wouldn't surprise me if we only get Javelins and not old land speeders.  Similarly I bet we only get one of destroyers and jump destroyers.

Maybe not seekers, but as demonstrated by the command squad in the launch box, you need something to make the command bases stand out.

I wonder how much of the tank options will be "cosmetic"? Like will a hunter killer missile or rhino sponson weapon have a profile, or will it just be something cool to put on the model.

Epic Armageddon sponsons aren't cosmetic.

Also with the abundance of marines, las sponsons on all could have the same profile across Kratos, Preds, sicarans.

It'd be more granular but wouldn't be hard imo.

Hopefully the game encourages you to have some anti-infantry weapons on your tanks. They’re the most important weapon on a tank if it wants to survive. In regular Heresy it makes sense to have an all-Las predator because that may be your main anti-armor platform depending on the points level. At epic scale all anti-armor tanks should function as tank destroyers and be utilized as ambush units. They should get hosed by infantry before they ever see another tank if they are maneuvering.

Random observation, but I really enjoy the positive hype the community has around this launch! Some good old fashioned fun and excitement for an upcoming release. It's nice.

We have the visual confirmation of what we already knew: things are at least 50% bigger in LI than older Epic. Infantry being based, we don't really notice things on the table, but for the tanks, it is not the same song: new ones are massive compared to older ones.

Due to metal manufacturing constraints, older titans just can't compare to newer plastic ones.

This is exactly the scale of game for the Arvus to shine if they attempt to approximate real life. Rapidly dropping infantry onto objectives while enemy anti aircraft is suppressed.

Other than all the flyer problems (which are presumably gone in epic), the core issue with with the arvus is that its transport capacity doesn't really match well with the factions it's been assigned to.

10 carrying capacity in armies where units came in 20s, with competition from the rhino, aurox and dracosan if you actually took grenadiers/veltaris.

Idk, maybe it'll break the curse. Depends on how useful those more elite geq units are, the terrain density and movement rules, and scoring.

The Arvus could be surprisingly good partly because its been near worthless since it was released.

There's going to be so much more to target with your big guns that half a dozen unarmed flyers may simply go unnoticed until you are leaking VP's to your opponent, victory conditions depending.

Of course, if you get VP's for simply destroying the little buggers then they are probably doomed from the word go.
