Reanimation protocols with leaders

Hi! Is there any rule/FAQ/commentary that stops you from reanimating unit leader if he was killed with precision weapon and his bodyguard unit is still alive?

Hmm. From the Rules Commentary it states this (pg11, under Returning Models to a Unit)- "If a Leader model is destroyed and subsequently returned to the battlefield, and the Bodyguard unit they were attached to is on the battlefield, they must be returned to that unit to form an Attached unit once more (otherwise, they are returned as a separate unit)."

 

To me that states that yes, you can return a Leader to a units with RP, it just has to go back to the same unit.

I would say not. The moment a Leader model is removed from a bodyguard unit, they cease to be attached. Otherwise if all the bodyguard unit were dead, the special rules from the unit would still be in place for the character to utilise. It would be the same logic in reverse also; a unit that loses its attached Leader doesn't continue to receive the special rules of said leader either.
