Cpt_Reaper Posted September 4, 2023 Share Posted September 4, 2023 Inspired by the topic started by Lysimachus in the Astartes main hall, I figured I'd get the conversation going here. With our Codex due early next year, working out what Detachments we may get now could be a fun exercise. Assuming we too get 6 Detachments, including our current Unforgiven Taskforce, I theorise the following: Unforgiven Taskforce - The catch all detachment for a mixed-wing force Deathwing Strikeforce - Self explanatory. Terminators, Dreadnoughts, Land Raiders and Repulsors. Bladeguard likely, Sternguard uncertain. Ravenwing Strikeforce - Second verse same as the first. Outriders, ATVs, Stormspeeders and Flyers. The Risen - Focusing on Primaris Veterans (Bladeguard and Sternguard) as "counts-as" Risen. Lionguard - Detachment focused around the Lion. Bladeguard/Deathwing Knights I cannot, however, work out a 6th detachment unless I start borrowing from the Space Marine Codex and from my understanding we will not be a supplement but a standalone detachment this time. Of course I'm probably in the minority here - in that I have Ultras for my "Green Wing" play style, and only use DA for the Divergent style which was more or less duplicated by the Custodes - and I didn't switch. I imagine Deathwing, Raven Wing, Green Wing themed detachments, and if it's a deathwing refresh as rumored, probably the desthwing one will be by far the best. jaxom Posted October 16, 2023 Share Posted October 16, 2023 Greenwing is the least likely, or from another perspective already covered by Unforgiven detachment. Deathwing+Ravenwing combined arms or one for each are, I think, the most likely. We may only get Unforgiven and one more detachment because Dark Angels have so many unique units which can be used to put a Dark Angel twist on otherwise Codex-detachments. Vardus Posted October 17, 2023 Share Posted October 17, 2023 (edited) If GW stick to the one codex needed and Dark Angels is not a supplement, then it wouldn't surprise me if it was a copy of the Space Marine Codex just with none Dark Angel units/characters removed, then the Dark Angel Characters/Units added. Also all none Dark Angel Lore/Fluff/painting removed and replaced with its Dark Angel equivalent Edit: Forgot to say that it would also get the Dark Angels detachment.
